Staff Updates: Welcomes & Goodbyes
Dear church family,
We have a few updates to share with you concerning our staff team. Let me start by introducing the newest member.
As part of a new vision of creating cohesive ministries for children from birth through college age, we have hired Jonathan (Jon) Christman, as our College/Next Generation Pastor. Jon is married to Allison (his high school sweetheart from Boyertown, PA), and they have a rising 7th-grade daughter, Lizzy, who attends DCC and already knows some of the students in our middle school ministry.
A local pastor friend of mine recommended Jon, and I also knew the pastor of his former church, as well as a seminary professor he studied under whom I went to seminary with in the 90s. We have a level of relational awareness that is extensive. This kind of intimate knowledge of a candidate is very rare. Jon went to Notre Dame for undergrad, Duke for law school—practiced law for 10+ years—and graduated with an MDiv from Westminster (WTS) in 2023.
We are excited to welcome Jon to Team COS and we look forward to welcoming Allison and Lizzy to our family of faith.
It is with joy for their families and sadness for COS that we announce that Caleb DeJesus our Student Ministry Associate and Katarina Skipper, our Ministry Coordinator with both be leaving us at the end of this week.
Caleb first came to Church of the Saviour as an intern in the fall of 2022 and had obvious gifts as he learned the ropes of serving in student ministry. He did such a good job that we promoted him to the role of Associate once his internship concluded. Caleb has served COS and the students very well during his time here and it has been a joy to see him develop.
We are sorry to see him leave us but excited for this opportunity for Caleb and Mackenzie. Caleb has accepted a position as a Youth Pastor in South New Jersey. This will allow him to disciple students in an area of the northeast corridor where he and Mackenzie desire to live. We are so appreciative of Caleb and all the diligence, intelligence, and good humor he brought during his time with us.
Katarina joined us three years ago while the pandemic lockdowns were still greatly affecting our lives. She has been such a faithful and steady presence at the front desk! We will miss her smile, her efficient yet always gracious demeanor, and her tremendous ability to solve any scheduling challenges.
Katarina and her young family will be moving away from the area and closer to their extended family. She has served and supported our staff team as well as countless ministry volunteers, congregants, and people in the community. Often serving those who have experienced recent loss through the coordination of funerals and memorial services, Katarina’s grace and gentle spirit have been a witness of Christ’s love to many families. Her attention to detail and care for each ministry have been a great gift to us!
Join me in praying for the Lord’s strong hand of grace and presence to be with these two and their families as they enter a new season of life.
With gratitude for God's provision and prayers of thanksgiving for those who have served COS well,
Kevin
