Doctors in the House | Episode 13 | Liston Testifies on 'Non-Medical Switching' Legislation

In this episode of Doctors in the House, Representative Beth Liston reviews HB 291, a bill she testified on this week as the prime sponsor.


This legislation would prohibit insurance companies from mid-year formulary changes that cause physicians and their patients to change medications for non-medical reasons.

The CMA's Advocacy Community's Co-Chairs, Dr. Chris Brown, and Bill Cotton will host a post-election hybrid meeting on Wednesday, November 8th at 6:00 p.m. All CMA members are invited.

 

This meeting will review the results of Issues 1 and 2 and other important issues on the horizon. 

 

Additionally, the meeting will look at future legislative considerations by the Ohio General Assembly on healthcare issues including insurance coverage, access, and scope of practice issues.

Tuesday's Election | Expanded Early Voting Hours Available

Early Voting. For those who want to cast your vote prior to Tuesday, Ohio provides additional designated hours for early voting at your local county Boards of Elections. The remaining days and times are set for all counties in the state:


  • Friday, November 3: 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 4: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 5: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Medical Heritage Center (MHC) is Now Accepting Applications for the George W. Paulson, MD Scholar-in-Residence Program

The Ohio State University Health Sciences Library Medical Heritage Center (MHC) is offering the George W. Paulson, MD, Scholar-in-Residence Program, which provides a stipend of up to $5,000 to support research and publication costs. The program is open to scholars from various backgrounds and is based in Columbus, OH. It prioritizes research related to local or regional medical history for national publication. The scholar will have access to MHC's collections, office space, and equipment.


The residency period should be between February 1, 2024, and January 31, 2025, with a possible one-year renewal. Applications, including a cover letter, CV, proposed budget and timeline, and at least two recommendation letters, must be submitted by December 29, 2023, to MHCmail@osumc.edu.
