Easter Offering

As is our custom, the collected offering at our Easter services, if not designated as part of a pledge or other purpose, will be divided equally and donated directly to outside charities. This year, the Vestry has chosen three nonprofits as the recipients:

Loudoun Hunger Relief, www.loudounhunger.org

LAWS (Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter), www.lcsj.org

The Arc of Loudoun, www.thearcofloudoun.org

Please take the time to learn about each of these charities and support them directly as you are able. Their needs are great, and we appreciate your gifts and prayers as they do important work in our community and world.

Easter Lilies

Each year we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ by adorning the Nave in white lilies. If you wish to dedicate lilies to the memory or thanksgiving of a loved one, please email: info@stjamesleesburg.org or call the church office at (703) 777-1124 by noon on Monday, March 25. You can make a gift online for Easter lilies; click on the button below and choose "Altar Flowers" from the dropdown menu. Or you can send a check to the office and note "Easter Lilies" in the memo line. If you donate online, please call the office with name/s of the person/s being celebrated.

2024 Spring/Summer Foyer Groups

April-September

Deadline to sign up for this session is Sunday, March 24th

Foyer Groups are a St. James' Fellowship Ministry where parishioners from all walks of life can connect with others from St. James' through food, faith, and fun! Each Foyer Group is made up of eight people (singles and couples) who meet once a month in six-month intervals for meals and conversation--in your home, at a restaurant, or any other creative spot for your group--as you share food, fellowship, faith, and fun. Group members will rotate who is responsible for hosting an event for the rest of the group. This may be as simple as cooking an easy meal, picking a restaurant to meet up at, or planning an outing, such as visiting a park and having an afternoon picnic. This experience will give you the opportunity to meet others from St. James' whom you may not otherwise get to meet. If you are interested in joining this year’s Foyer Groups, contact Carol Chapman at (703)307-7888 or email. No cooking skills or clean house required!

Pray for the People of the Holy Land

God of peace, we pray for the people of the Holy Land in these perilous and dangerous times. For all who are fearful for the safety of their loved ones and themselves, we pray that the assurance of unfailing love, even in the midst of danger, settles upon them. Shelter them from despair and protect them from harm. For all who are wounded, we pray they find healing. For all who have died, we pray they find rest. For all who grieve, we pray they find comfort. For leaders on all sides, we pray for a renewed will to lay down arms and for the conviction to embrace a path of reconciliation and peace that preserves the rights and dignity of all your children. God of mercy, help us to remember there is no border that can separate us from your great love. God of justice, we pray with hopeful hearts that your beloved children of the Holy Land will be spared a future of unrest and that a recognition of the humanity of all people will prevail. We ask all this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Update on St. James' Stone Restoration

The stone restoration work on our historic church buildings of the Parish Hall and Rittenhouse began once again last Monday. No interruptions in access or use of the church properties are anticipated. Witmer’s staging area remains as it was in the first stage of work. Upon completion of the parking lot side, work will continue onto North St next week and conclude on Wirt St by May 31st. Our gratitude to Tom Horne and members of the Property Committee ((Tom Horne, Howard Moody, Steve Mayo, and Tony McGraw) for their continuous oversight and coordination with Witmer during this renovation. Most especially, we are grateful for the financial assistance and generosity of an anonymous donor who enabled this critical renovation to occur, assuring its presence for many generations. Please contact Tom Horne on any questions or concerns @ thorne1066@verizon.net.
