The Fred Williams Meditation Garden:
In Progress
Many thanks to those of you who have gifted to this project. If you haven't had a chance to learn about plans for this garden, please take a moment to look at the bulletin board in the Narthex. Plans to move ahead are on hold until sufficient monies are available to provide the "bones" for the space--a pathway, several small trees, a hedge on the Cornwall St. side, an arch for the entry, etc. The development of this meditation garden is a journey which can progress with your assistance. Your donation, large or small, will help us to create a space that will benefit our church and community for years to come as place of quiet beauty where one can bask in the silence and enjoy the hand of God in creation, as well as honor its namesake for his service as our Senior Warden. Please take a moment as you pass to review it. Any questions may be directed to Pamela McGraw, Ministry Leader, Sacred Soil Society at pamelam1950@verizon.net.

The Stone Restoration Project is Complete
The stone restoration work on our beautiful, historic church building is now complete and our contractor, the Witmer Group, has vacated the site. Their work can be characterized as nothing short of excellent, even completing the work several weeks early. On many occasions, they went beyond what was required to meet our needs and even hopes. We’ve very fortunate to have had them!
Have you noticed the new roof on our Boiler Room and the iron railings at the Sacristy and Parish Hall porches? They were part of the restoration. Additional related work of wood repairs and painting at several exterior entrances and the wood fence/gate replacement at the mechanical equipment enclosure will occur in the next several weeks.
Our gratitude to Tom Horne and members of the Property Committee ((Tom Horne, Howard Moody, Steve Mayo, Dan Thomas, and Tony McGraw) for their continuous oversight and coordination with Witmer during this restoration. We are thankful to prior members of the congregation for the gifts to the church that made this all possible-Val Symington, Frank and Ann Myers, and Katherine "Kitty" Boyd. We are also grateful for the financial assistance and generosity of an anonymous donor who enabled this critical renovation and related work to occur, assuring its presence for many generations.

Treasurer’s Update – May 2024
I want to build on the conversation that we started during our annual meeting and provide a monthly update on St. James’ Finances. As we continue to grow our parish ministries, we have continued to invest in the resources necessary to support these priorities. With your support and careful expense management, overall, 2024 financial performance is $31,528 better than expected. Your generous giving makes this possible. Thank you!
All known St. James’ donors should have received their first quarterly statement; if you have not received yours or if you have any questions, please reach out to me at Treasurer@stjamesleesburg.org.
For more information on how to give, please visit our website, or reach out to me,
Stacy Cleveland

Pray for the People of the Holy Land
God of peace, we pray for the people of the Holy Land in these perilous and dangerous times. For all who are fearful for the safety of their loved ones and themselves, we pray that the assurance of unfailing love, even in the midst of danger, settles upon them. Shelter them from despair and protect them from harm. For all who are wounded, we pray they find healing. For all who have died, we pray they find rest. For all who grieve, we pray they find comfort. For leaders on all sides, we pray for a renewed will to lay down arms and for the conviction to embrace a path of reconciliation and peace that preserves the rights and dignity of all your children. God of mercy, help us to remember there is no border that can separate us from your great love. God of justice, we pray with hopeful hearts that your beloved children of the Holy Land will be spared a future of unrest and that a recognition of the humanity of all people will prevail. We ask all this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
