Faith, Hope & Love During the Season of Lent

How will you and your loved ones strengthen your faith during this Season of Lent?

Lent, the 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving within the Christian faith, began on Ash Wednesday (February 22, 2023) and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday (April 6, 2023). It is a period of preparation to commemorate Easter.

Celebrate Women's History Month by Donating to Women Reentering Workforce

In an effort to provide increased dignity to women being released from Northeast Reintegration Center, LMM's Workforce Development Resource Room provides each woman utilizing our Workforce Development services with a large tote bag to carry her items, rather than using just a trash bag.

We're currently running low on stock and would love to give your old bags new life! Drop-offs can be made to the Richard Sering Center front desk (4515 Superior Ave. Cleveland, OH 44103). Please ask for Elizabeth Stiles or leave your donation with the receptionist at the front desk. Donation receipts are available to you upon request!

We're asking for your

  • Reusable grocery tote bags (fabric or tarp material are both great!)
  • Gym duffels/travel bags
  • Purses of any size (the larger the better!)
  • Adult backpacks (NOT drawstring)

Other donation needs include

  • Women’s boots and shoes (no heels, all sizes)
  • NEW women’s underwear (size 7 and up)
  • Women’s jeans, leggings, athleisure, and sweatpants (size 12/Large and up)
  • Women’s hoodies and zip-ups (any size)

Any additional questions? Reach out to Elizabeth Stiles at estiles@lutheranmetro.org.

Cuyahoga County Strategic Action Plan for Homelessness

Cuyahoga County's Office of Homeless Services recently released its Strategic Action Plan for Homelessness, highlighting a set of coordinated strategies to reduce homelessness in Cuyahoga County by 25% by 2027.

Check out the County's 'Homeless Partners' video to hear a word from LMM's VP of Housing & Shelter, Michael Sering, reflecting on ending homelessness.

Pay-to-Stay in Cuyahoga County

Cuyahoga County Council is considering adding Pay-to-Stay protections in the county code that would prohibit landlords from evicting tenants for making late rent payments. Pay-to-Stay is a valuable resource for our community and for renters, as it reduces housing instability.

Interested in learning more about LMM's efforts in regard to Pay-to-Stay? Check out this op-ed that LMM's Advocacy Director, Margie Glick, wrote in March of 2021 advocating on behalf of Pay-to-Stay protections coming to Cuyahoga County.

Fair Housing for All

The leading cause of homelessness is a lack of affordable housing.

At LMM, we are constantly looking for innovative, effective ways to make affordable housing accessible for all through the work of our Housing & Shelter program. Whether it's through our Breaking New Ground initiative, Transition In Place housing, exploring 3-D printed homes, or piloting solar-powered housing, LMM is always looking to push the envelope and end homelessness for all.
