Each year, the staff in our Workforce Development Program host a Holiday Party for the families of participants in our Chopping for Change (C4C) Program. C4C is LMM’s culinary training program that prepares individuals who are incarcerated to return to the community after their sentence, with vocational skills that will empower their employability post-release.
For the last several years, the party was for the women incarcerated at the Northeast Reintegration Center (NERC). This year LMM expanded the C4C Program, and we will be extending the celebration to include the men we serve at Grafton Correctional Institution (Grafton) and our non-incarcerated students. More than 95 percent of all participants in our Workforce Development programs are people living at or below the federal poverty line.
For children whose parents are incarcerated, the holidays can be a time of emotional challenge and disappointment, if they are not supported. Being surrounded by extended family, friends and community supporters like LMM can make a positive difference in the experience of children whose parents are justice-involved.
If you would like to make a donation to our Workforce Development holiday celebration on December 9, please click on the link below and designate your gift for the “Workforce Development Holiday Party”. Gifts of all sizes will help us to make the holiday season a time of joy for families impacted by the criminal legal system.
