THIS SUNDAY

Music Notes - May 12th, 2024

The recessional hymn “See the Conqueror mounts in triumph,” was written by Christopher

Wordsworth. The nephew of poet William Wordsworth, Christopher was both a scholar and athlete in his student days. Later he served as headmaster of Harrow Boys School, which Winston Churchill would attend a century later. As a recognized Greek scholar, Christopher also wrote theological and other works. Of his hymns, he said “It is the first duty of a hymn to teach sound doctrine and thence save souls.”

Do You Read And Speak A Language Other Than English?

We would love to hear your voice at a special service on Pentecost! Along with other voices in other languages, you will be helping to bring the Scripture to life on this principal feast day of the church year.“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them” (Acts 2:4). Please contact Jo Wood for information or to sign up.

It's not too late to pledge for 2024. Your generosity is a reflection of your gratitude for God's gifts. We are all invited.

Time and time again in Scripture God’s work in the world is compared to a banquet—a feast—a celebration! And each one of us is invited. Good Shepherd has a table there, and we want you to join us! In these next few weeks we invite you to discern what your financial pledge will be to support our communal work in 2024. Exciting things are ahead and we welcome your participation!

You can pledge online at the link below, pick up a card at church or request a card be mailed to you. Give us a call! 561-746-4674.

Worship and Formation

Can you help us with Summer Sunday School?

This summer there will be a one-room Sunday School program in the back classroom. Children ages 3 through rising 5th graders are welcome to attend. We will explore “water stories” of the Bible, learning about Moses, Noah,Jonah, Jesus and many others. We will create art masterpieces using various painting techniques. And we may even get our feet wet! Adult volunteers are also needed to help with this program – one Sunday or several! Contact Mary Lou Crifasi in the Church Office. (561-746-4674).

Final Session:

Embracing Divine Love: Exploring the Epistles of John

Final Wednesday (5/15) at 11:00 am in the Parish Hall

May 15 concludes the seven-week spiritual exploration as we delve into the rich and transformative teachings found in the Epistles of John. These insightful letters guide us in understanding God's radiant light, redemption through Christ, and the depths of divine love and identity. We will examine how John's witness highlights our belovedness in God's eyes, illuminated by the resurrection. All are welcome; no prior experience is necessary.
