Assalamu Alaikum

Dear Family & Friends of ICSC,

Join us for a weekend of community service and personal development opportunities at the Islamic Center! With two volunteer opportunities and a conflict resolution workshop with Aziza Hasan taking place over the next couple of days, the Center is buzzing with ways to get involved.

Come join the fun tomorrow (Saturday) morning as volunteers help distribute groceries at our ICSC Food Pantry. The pantry is open every Saturday and helps provide 250 - 300 low-income Angelenos with fresh, healthy groceries every weekend. These services are also available free-of-charge to any ICSC community members in need of a little extra help. We request that volunteers arrive at 9:45 a.m. to help set-up before doors open to the public at 10:30 a.m. All ages welcome!

Another opportunity to be of service will take place on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Union Rescue Mission (URM) on Skid Row. Each month, a group of dedicated ICSC volunteers meet up for Serve & Connect at the URM. Over the course of just a couple of hours they serve dinner service to the men, women, and children who are currently staying at the Mission. RSVP's are requested to participate in this event due to a limited number of spots. Please email kristen@islamiccenter.com for more information or to register.

We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones at an Islamic Center event this weekend!

In peace,
Islamic Center of Southern California

2017 Open Mosque Day Festival

We're just a couple weeks away from our 2017 Open Mosque Day Festival. This year, in addition to our regular tours and a short information session about Islam, we will be planning more fun activities for everyone to enjoy. There will be face painting, henna, arts & crafts, clothing/accessory vendors, promotional booths for local businesses, food, and more! It should be a fun day for the whole family. Share the event on Facebook and invite your friends and neighbors who might be interested in joining the fun!

Please Note: We are looking for volunteers to help run activity booths! We will also be renting out professional booths to local business owners for a small fee.  If you're interested in being a volunteer or a vendor, please email programs@islamiccenter.com for more information.

"All About Community & Friendship: MYG Ice Cream Social"

Our MYG crew created their first batch of homemade ice cream, or should I say, masjidmade.

We had a blast at this week's MYG Ice Cream Social, eating flavors like Blueberry Pomegranate Chocolate Chunk, lactose-free, (but delicious) Peanut Butter Fudge Swirl.

"Annual Summer Picnic in the Park"

Our annual summer picnic at Griffith Park brought together nearly a hundred community members for a fun day of sunshine with family and friends!

Guests enjoyed delicious burgers and hot dogs (all halal!) prepared by our Social Services committee while catching up with familiar faces - it was a relaxing afternoon of both community and fun. Meanwhile, kids ran freely around the park playing outdoor games like musical chairs, frisbee, and soccer.
