Assalamu Alaikum
Dear Family & Friends of ICSC,
The Islamic Center of Southern California wishes you and your loved ones a
Happy Hijri New Year (1439). As we embark on the journeys of a new year, we extend heartfelt gratitude for the blessings and mercies of what lies ahead, insha'Allah. May our hearts be filled through love and service to others and our spirits be lifted with the hopes for a better tomorrow.
As the month of Muharram is off to a start, we remind you of our upcoming
Day of Ashura that will begin at Maghrib on Friday, Sep. 29 and end at Maghrib on Saturday, Sep. 30, insha'Allah. In observance of this special day,
we encourage you all to fast and join us for a Ashura program and community iftar. Dr. Saleh will lead the program beginning at 5:30 p.m. (on Sat., Sep. 30) and our Social Services Committee will provide dinner. Please share this event with your family and friends.
Also, we will be hosting a panel discussion this Sunday, Sep. 24 to learn about the similarities and differences between the Shi'a and Sunni traditions of Ashura. Hassan Zeenni and Hadi Qazwini will lead this conversation from 12:15 p.m. - 1 p.m. in the ICSC Lecture Hall. We hope you will join us.
We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones at an Islamic Center event this weekend!
In peace,
Islamic Center of Southern California
