THE WEEKLY MISSIVE, PART II

MARCH 31, 2024

(Part I was published on Wednesday, March 27.)

Easter Blessings from the Paulist Center!

Dear Friends,

Alleluia! Christ is risen, just as he said! Alleluia!

On behalf of the entire Paulist Center staff, happy Easter! It is a privilege to serve you! We pray that this season is filled with peace, hope, and joy.

This Lent has given all of us in the Paulist Center Community a greater appreciation for how special this community is. Now, we rejoice in this season of new beginnings, new growth, and new insights from recognizing the immortal truths of our faith!

With all the liturgical excitement this weekend, we now bring you the news for the upcoming week.

Today Is the Holiest Day of the Year!

Today Is the Holiest Day of the Year!

The Great Vigil of Easter may be over, but the Paschal Triduum continues!

10:00 am Mass of the Lord's Resurrection

(live streamed)

12:00 pm Mass of the Lord's Resurrection

(not live streamed)

As the Preface of the Eucharistic Prayer proclaims, we are overcome with Paschal joy at Christ's resurrection! Please join us, if you can!

Please note: for the sake of our immunocompromised members and visitors, we continue to require all people (except the smallest of children) to wear masks in the balcony. We anticipate that the 10 am Mass will likely be the best-attended Mass at the Paulist Center in over 4 years. It will be easier to maintain social distancing in the balcony at the 12 pm Mass than at the 10 am Mass.

Staying With Jesus Every Day

Deb Heimel, chair of the Pastoral Council, has this weekend's pastoral reflection. In it, she offers her appreciation for how the Paulist Center Community helps her to hold the tension between our human failings and the world Jesus calls us to — a world that includes both Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Donate for Easter Flowers through Pentecost (May 19)!

Help us decorate with flowers for the entire Easter season in honor of family members or friends, living or deceased. Three ways to do so:

  1. Come to the receptionist's desk 10:30 am - 4:30 pm Mon-Fri
  2. Use the envelopes in the pews
  3. Select "Flowers" here, indicating "in honor of" or "in memory of" in the space provided

The suggested donation is $10 per tribute. Thank you!

All donations received by Tues, Apr 2 will be listed in the Apr 6-7 bulletin. All subsequent donations will be listed in the May 18-19 bulletin.

Easter: Not Just a Day, But a Season!

Today is just the first day of our 50 days of Paschal joy. We hope to see you in-person today, next Sunday, and every Sunday after that! But if you can't make it through the big red doors, join us online:

Solemnity of the Resurrection

10 am Sun, Mar 31

Second Sunday of Easter

(First Holy Communion)

10 am Sun, Apr 7

Remember: all of our live streams are available in real time on our YouTube channel & available there afterwards as recordings.

Upcoming Events

The most comprehensive listing of what's going on at the Paulist Center is in the bulletin. Check it out! Here's some of what's in it:

  • The liturgies of Holy Week have been beautiful and inspiring. We give an extended thank you to everyone who contributed to those liturgies, especially to our extraordinary Pastoral Minister of Liturgy and Music, Norm Gouin!

  • The Easter Appeal is available online. You can hop over here and select "Easter Appeal" to give right now. Thank you for your commitment to the future of our beloved community!

  • A reminder that the Paulist Center office is closed for Easter Monday, Apr 1. We will not have confessions or Mass that day, but we'll be back in operation on Tues, Apr 2.

  • A reminder that we'll celebrate First Holy Communion with many of our 2nd & 3rd graders and their families at the 10 am Mass on Sun, Apr 7. Please join us for the Mass and a reception afterwards!

  • Info about the many ways we're seeking your help for the 41st Annual Paulist Center Auction. Remember: the deadline for submitting items for the silent auction is Sun, Apr 7!

  • The Pastoral Council's reminder to mark your calendar now for our Community Meeting on the afternoon of Sat, May 11.

  • Info on this weekend's Community Gift recipient, Christians in the Holy Land. Despite its name, some of the funds from this collection are designated for services that benefit all residents within the Holy Land, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, not just Christians. Given the current war in Gaza, this collection may be needed now more than ever!

Also:

"Hymns of praise then let us sing; alleluia!

unto Christ our heavenly king; alleluia!

who endured the cross and grave; alleluia!

sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!"
