Weekly Member Memo - July 16, 2024

Wine & Food Affair

The Deadline to Sign-Up is FRIDAY

I know that seems soon for an event in November. Keep in mind tickets go on sale Sept. 5th, we need to have a complete program online by then, along with the list of wineries for the ticket page, an event map and we plan to print a detailed, multi-page program.

So...we need to get started - rock and roll.

Summer Wine Trail...it is astounding to me how few tickets we are able to sell for this event. It is an amazing price point for a day of wine tasting. We need some ideas to spread the word for the next one, Harvest Wine Trail, Sept. 14th.

We promoted this as 40 Wineries / $40 / Walk-In Tastings

We ended up selling 105 tickets.

Sales were open until 1:00pm on the day of the event.

Trained for Saving Lives

The program is run by River Road Family Vineyards and Winery. When owner Ron Rubin suffered a cardiac emergency in 2009, a defibrillator saved his life. Now, it’s his mission to bring these lifesaving machines to wineries around the country.

The program provides free automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to wineries throughout Sonoma County and beyond.

Rubin said he is confident the program will eventually save someone’s life.

“Defibrillators saved my life, so I know they work, “ Rubin said. “For wineries that are open to the public and have tasting rooms and that are concerned about sustainability, they should be concerned about their visitors and their winery staff.”

  • So far, 381 wineries are in the program
  • Over 1,800 people have been trained in CPR and AED use through the program
  • Rubin said the goal is to have 450 wineries participating.

If YOU are interested in more information, email Ron Rubin for details.

Thank you to our partners along the Wine Road for their financial support.
