RE Mission
Our religious education program works
to create an accepting environment that empowers children and youth to explore their spirituality, celebrate diversity, and live our Unitarian Universalist values.

Family Ministry
We believe that families play a vital role in furthering this empowerment to explore and live our UU values. We are excited to support our families by offering ideas from the UUA's Tapestry of Faith program as well as graces and thought provoking questions related to the topics introduced during Sunday religious education classes. We hope you find this new initiative enjoyable and spiritually fulfilling for your whole family.

Our children will make constellations, hear a story about the Passover Seder, consider helping the Earth, continue making a book, continue learning about indigenous faiths and more.
Check out the church website and our Facebook page for details.

For the Week of April 1, 2018

A Table Grace:
We are celebrating today, Lord, a mixture of bunnies hiding colored eggs and angels rolling away stones. Join us as we gather to share a meal and ponder both, enjoying the one and giving thanks for the other. Bless those about this table savoring both food and the message of this day. Remind us too, Lord of unexpected appearances, that this also is the season of spring, a time when rebirth is not so surprising after all. Send us after lunch into the yard where, while hiding colored Easter eggs for the children, we may suddenly understand what this day really means. ~ Margaret Anne Huffman

Chalice Lighting:
We light our chalice to remember the sorrow, the loss, and the joy that are within this season of the year. The Passover, that brought freedom from slavery and bondage for the Jewish people, continues to bring light into the world. Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter, that brought joy and the triumph of life over death for the Christian people, still bring the light of that joy to the world. The spring equinox, that brings new life bursting forth on the land each year, brings lengthened days of sunlight to all life. Passover for freedom, Easter for life and spring for rebirth. We light our chalice for all three. ~ Elizabeth M. Strong

Please consider
utilizing these ideas to deepen and inspire your faith during the week.
Contemplation Topic - During a shared meal with family or friends or as part of a contemplative practice, ponder the question - How do you find joy and hope with the arrival of new life in the springtime?
Bunnies, Eggs and Resurrection - Check out this article from the Spring 2011 UU World to consider how you might talk about the meaning of Easter. Inspired by our Nursery -
Host a Can Hunt instead of an Egg Hunt. Hide cans of healthy food for your local food bank and invite the children to find them. The enjoyment is in the seeking! Go together to make your donation
