Religious Education News
Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton

RE Mission
Our religious education program works
to create an accepting environment that empowers children and youth to explore their spirituality, celebrate diversity, and live our Unitarian Universalist values.
Family Ministry
We believe that families play a vital role in furthering this empowerment to explore and live our UU values. We are excited to support our families by offering ideas from the UUA's Tapestry of Faith program as well as graces and thought provoking questions related to the topics introduced during Sunday religious education classes. We hope you find this new initiative enjoyable and spiritually fulfilling for your whole family.
In RE Next Week
Our children will explore Zen gardens, learn about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, contemplate pagan faith traditions and more.
Check out the church website and our Facebook page for details.
Music Opportunity

A Table Grace:
Spirit who is all things to us; Presence in which we live and move and breathe and have our being:
What a gift to be here together, sharing our food, our spirit, ourselves!  We ask no blessing upon this food, nor upon ourselves, because the blessing is always here, if we but pay attention.
What we do ask is for the courage and wisdom to be mindful of they great blessings.  We ask, O Holy One, that we remember to cherish this food, savoring the tastes, the smells, the feel, the miracle of nourishment to our bodies, gifts of our lovely earth.  We ask, too, that we remember to cherish each other, to taste and savor our relationships, to understand that what we know of the sacred we know through these bodies and through these connections of friendship and love.
Grant us the wisdom to pay attention; grant us the generosity and the strength to open our hearts.  So be it.  Blessed be. Amen.                   ~ Elizabeth L. Greene
Chalice Lighting:
A chalice lit in our midst is a symbol of our liberal faith.
A faith built on the foundation of freedom, reason and tolerance.
A faith sustained by acts of kindness and justice.
A faith that visions a world flourishing, with equality for all her people.
A faith that demands the living out of goodness.
A faith that requires thoughtfulness.
A faith of wholeness.
This tiny flame is the symbol of the spark of all this within each of us.                                             ~ Debra Faulk
Please consider utilizing these ideas to deepen and inspire your faith during the week.
Contemplation Topic - During a shared meal with family or friends or as part of a contemplative practice, ponder the question - What legacy do you want to leave?
UU of the Month - You and/or your family might like to choose a different Unitarian Universalist to talk about every month. At a shared meal, present a fact about a Unitarian Universalist ancestor. Then, invite everyone to chime in with their observations about how this ancestor's life has affected their own. Click here for a Dictionary of Unitarian and Universalist Biographies.
Inspired by our Neighboring Faiths Class -
Our youth visited the Akwesasne Cultural Center to learn about Native American spirituality.  Check out their website and consider visiting.
