Message from CCRA Operations Manager Travis Oliver
Hello, CCRA family!
I attended the first session of the City’s Pathways to Reform, Transformation, and Reconciliation, held by the City’s Public Engagement Committee, on Monday, November 30. The first meeting was called “Circles of Truths.”
With 180 attendees present, including Major Kenney, Commissioner Outlaw, the Mayor’s Public Engagement Committee, police officers, and other civic community leaders, the 2-hour meeting focused on “active listening." We broke into several smaller groups to discuss any personal issues. Representing CCRA, I explained the problems that need to be addressed in our neighborhood. However, this first meeting dealt with the entire city, not just in particular communities.
Bottom line: the words “fear” and “exhaustion” kept coming up. The Committee's position is that no one should fear the police or our neighbors, and there should be an outlet where we can problem-solve to other than law enforcement – unless, of course, it’s an emergency. But the consensus is the community's voice should be heard.
You can view the meeting on the City's Facebook page. The Public Engagement Committee will schedule another session sometime in early 2021. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, if you have any personal experiences you would like me to share with the committee, feel free to email them to me. Your email will remain anonymous.

No one misses the lanternfly plague, but no one is looking forward to their return next year, either. What to do? Get ‘em where they live: in their eggs. How? Learn to recognize an egg mass, then scrape them off (Each egg mass contains between 30 and 50 small egg trails).

If you like the actor Kevin Bacon and you happen to have a cool $1.33 million looking for something to do, you can be much closer than six degrees of separation from his 2117 Locust Street childhood home. Five bedrooms, four bathrooms, steam room, sauna; you get the ideas. Fun Fact: His father, Edmund, was an architect who served as Executive Director of the City Planning Commission from 1949 to 1970.
