Dear Saint Rose Families,

Yesterday Monsignor Singler led our students on a complete review of Holy Week during his homily.  It was a thorough review and the students were confident in their ability to answer his questions.  They are well prepared for the progression of Holy Week and the anticipation of the joy of Easter Sunday!  Please follow this link to see the many different worship opportunities for the rest of Holy Week and Easter Sunday.

I hope that you and your family have a wonderful and faith filled Easter!  We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, April 9 when we return to school.

Lenten Service Project Opportunity:

Collection for Ukraine

Our school will be performing a service project to put together care packages for Dr. Paat to take with him on his May mission trip to Ukraine. Dr. Richard Paat, who is a Saint Rose parishioner and father of Saint Rose School graduates, is running a medical mission to Ukraine. His medical team, named SCORE, do missions all over the world and this will be his fourth mission to Ukraine. He shared that the schools in Ukraine have been converted to community shelters. The principals and teachers teach and serve to provide shelter and medical supplies to their communities.

If you are interested in donating, we have created an Amazon Wish list. Items can be delivered directly to the school, if you prefer.

Faculty Changes

Mrs. Louise Sarra will retire from Saint Rose after serving our school community for 24 years. Mrs. Sarra is one of our fourth grade teachers. We greatly appreciate her dedication to her ministry and pray for a successful transition to retirement!

Mr. Kyle Ester will step into this role for the 2024/25 school year. Mr. Ester is new to Saint Rose. He has been filling in as our 4th/5th grade classroom aide. Mr. Ester previously taught at a Catholic school in Colorado and one in Chicago before his family moved to the Bowling Green area.

Mrs. Danielle Covarrubias has been hired to join our school as the new fourth/fifth grade science teacher. Mrs. Covarrubias has been a teacher since 2009 and has been a fifth/sixth grade science teacher at Cardinal Stritch High School and Academy since 2019.

Mrs. Ellen Kang, who has served Saint Rose in various roles for the past 15 years, will be moving to Philadelphia with her family. Mrs. Kang most recently taught third grade after she previously taught kindergarten and was a kindergarten aide before moving up to third grade. Mrs. Kang was also a Saint Rose mom as all four of her children graduated from Saint Rose School. Many thanks to Mrs. Kang and for the support of her entire family to the mission of Saint Rose School! An experienced, Catholic elementary teacher has been hired to teach our third grade. Her information will be announced at a future date.

Mrs. Sharon Cichocki is stepping away from her position as our middle school advanced math teacher. Mrs. Cichocki has served Saint Rose students for the past seven years. We are grateful for her support and creativity. Saint Rose is currently searching for a teacher to take on this important role.

Mrs. Karen Mulholland, our speech intervention specialist, will retire after 54 years of speech intervention. Mrs. Mulholland has tirelessly supported our students in their speech development. Saint Rose will partner with the Lake Erie West ESC to fill this position.

Saint Rose is conducting interviews for our middle school science position. Please pray for our success.

THOL Race Training Volunteers

It's the time of year when the 7th and 8th graders run outside during gym class to train for their 5k run in May during THOL. This means WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! You don't need to be a parent of a 7th or 8th grader to help, but you do need to be Virtus trained.

Volunteers are needed during the last period of the day, 2:35 - 3:15pm, to simply watch the course for the students' safety. No running necessary. Bring your younger children! They love clapping for the runners and the students love seeing them too!

Thank you for all you do to make THOL a successful, memorable time for our 7th & 8th graders!
