Today marks 194 days in captivity.
Each Shabbat, members of the Downtown Jewish Community join for a peaceful walk around Washington Square and Union Square Park from
2:00-3:00 pm and carry pictures of the hostages held in Gaza to bring awareness to their plight. The group meets at the NYU Bronfman Center, 7 East 10 Street, walks through Washington Square and up University Place and then walks around and exits Union Square Park. Shabbat is a time to pause, connect and reflect,. As long as our family in Israel are suffering, we cannot rest. We hope you will join us on Saturday.

Ma'ot Chitim (Passover Tzedakah)
As we prepare to celebrate Pesach with family and friends, we must enable those who cannot afford even the most basic necessities of the holiday to observe the festival in dignity and in accordance with tradition. In the Haggadah it is written about the matzah, "This is the bread of affliction. Let all who are hungry come and eat; let all who are needy come and celebrate Pesach with us." This is the goal of our appeal.
Chametz
Brotherhood Synagogue will sell any chametz for you that you are not able to dispose of before Passover. Simply fill out the form about where your chametz is going to be during Passover, and we will sell it to a non-Jew on your behalf until the conclusion of the holiday.
Chag kasher Ve’Sameach — a Kosher and Happy Holiday to All!
Click here for Ma'ot Chitim (Passover Tzedakah) and to Sell your Chametz.
The deadline is THIS Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Undergraduate and graduate students currently studying in the New York City Metropolitan Area, Connecticut, and New Jersey are encouraged to apply to the Holocaust Educator School Partnership internship for the Fall 2024 semester.
The Holocaust Educator School Partnership is a paid internship program at the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in New York City. Names for Prayer for Healing | |
|
Submitting Names for Healing Prayer
When someone is ill, we traditionally say a Misheberach, a special prayer for healing during Shabbat morning services when Rabbi Alder will read the names of those who are ill. If you would like the name of someone mentioned during the Misheberach prayer, please let Rabbi Alder know by email. Ideally, we would use the person's Hebrew name and that of their mother; if this is not known, then we can use their English name. May God send healing to all those in need.
