Welcome to Front Street, Salon 110
On Monday, April 22 we held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Business After Hours at new business Salon 110, 11006 Front Street, Mokena. They are a booth rental salon specializing in women's hair. Watch the Facebook Live of their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. | Adopt a "Pot with a Purpose" and order your Butterfly Box
|
The Mokena Chamber of Commerce has collaborated with a group of local butterfly enthusiasts – ‘Butterflies R Us’ in creating a community of wildlife friendly habitats. We would love to get you involved to take the Milkweed Challenge!
Millions of Monarch butterflies fly to Mexico for wintering every autumn. When spring arrives, the Monarchs head back to their breeding grounds, initiating a new life cycle. This remarkable two-way migration is among the most breathtaking phenomena on Earth. Unfortunately, the monarch population is dwindling, mainly due to the diminishing supply of milkweed, essential for the growth and development of monarch caterpillars.
You can help the cause by purchasing a hand-crafted wooden Butterfly Planter Box to keep on your property. Butterflies R Us volunteers will provide a pot of planted milkweed and pollinator flowers to insert in the planter box after you are done decorating your box. (Please see Rules and Regulations). They will maintain the box for you from Spring to Fall each year. You only need to purchase the box once and it will be maintained by the volunteers every year.
The Chamber will provide each participating sponsor/business a 2’x2’ planter box with the option of an attached 5-foot board to be painted, stained, etc. as you wish.
If you are located in a plaza/strip mall/multi-tenant building, considering cost sharing with your neighbors for one Butterfly Box to represent all of you!
Each Butterfly Box purchase will receive promotion on the Mokena Chamber's Facebook page, providing extra visibility for your business. We will also be holding a contest where the public can vote for their favorite box by ‘liking’ the corresponding photo. A small prize will be given to the winner.
