Loyalty and Temptation:

The Tragedy of Judas

This week in worship we near the end of our series on the disciples of Jesus, and we'll hear the story of Judas - the one who betrayed Jesus into the hands of those who wished to have him killed. Judas was a disciple of Jesus who succumbed to temptation and chose money over his Lord in a shocking act of unfaithfulness. His is a lesson in human frailty, tendency toward sin, and the ever-present lure of money that can threaten our very souls. May we always choose loyalty to God over the temptations that we face.

This is the first Sunday in the season of Lent, a time for recalling our mortality and our need for redemption Please join us each week for our sacred time of worship - an opportunity for fellowship, teaching, prayer, and song. Centered in Christ, we are committed to love, share, and serve as God so leads us.

Our worship services are available via YouTube for those who wish to join that way. Click the link above to join us at 10:30 AM Sunday or anytime afterward. DVD copies of the services are also available.

"My Soul, My Life, My All" by Liz Bidgood Enders

We who follow Jesus are called to live into the fullness of our humanity as we seek to grow closer to God's glory. In the words of hymn writer Isaac Watts, "Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all." Scripture challenges us to offer our souls in devotion, our lives in service, and our very being as we grow in love for God.

Please pick one up and use it during the season that is before us.

ROLLER SKATING WRAP UP

Saturday evening, February 11th, York First Church and the Child Development Center co-sponsored a skating party at Roll ‘R’ Way Family Skating Center. With over 100 skaters and more spectators present, the evening was a huge success. We celebrate the relationship between the CDC and the congregation. What a joy to see so many people just having fun together. We look forward to strengthening this relationship with the CDC with more opportunities in the future. Thank you to all who attended and made this even so much fun.

Since 2011 our Witness Team has sponsored the Cash for Causes program by selling Giant & Weis gift cards. The church receives 5% of sales to support various ministries. For 2022 the gift card sales will support The Lehman Center (Children’s Aid Society), New Community Project, Carlisle Truck Stop Ministry, and LifePath Christian Ministries (formerly York Rescue Mission). You may purchase the cards in amounts of $100, $50, $25, or $10. The cards make great gifts, especially at holidays. Consider donating cards to the Food Pantry or using them yourself any time you shop at Giant or Weis.

If you’d like to support this program, please see Becky Wenger before/after worship service OR mail your check (paid to York First Church) to 3011 Bedford Pl, York, PA 17408 and your cards will be mailed to you.

The Education Team would like to share free monthly video links from Teepa Snow. Hoping you will get a chance to watch them and learn something that may be helpful when dealing with those you come in contact with who have dementia.

Teepa Snow’s care strategies and techniques look at what is known about brain function and changes that happen with various conditions and integrate that information with therapeutic approaches. March link is:
