The Rev. Dr. V. "Kass" Kassouni is one of Pastor Kim's favorite people. He is Parish Associate at Tustin Presbyterian Church, where her husband serves as pastor. He is a wise and joyful man of God who came to America in 1949 as a student headed for Christian ministry. He came from Cyprus, where his high school education was in a Reformed Presbyterian school called the American Academy.  He received his theological education (MDiv) in New York Theological Seminary in 1956, and in Chicago, McCormick Seminary (DMin) in 1991.

He was ordained to the Christian Ministry by the New York City Association of Congregational Churches in 1957. He served as pastor in churches in New York City, Fresno, CA, and Los Angeles. He joined the Presbytery of Los Ranchos in 1985 and served a number of churches as Interim Pastor. For nine years he served as Associate Presbytery Executive in the capacity of church developer. He served as the Initiating pastor and organizer of four new churches (English Speaking) and several racial-ethnic churches in a supporting role. He led in the process of uniting two existing churches into one (La Mirada). He "retired" in 2015 and has devoted his time to writing. Recently he published his book: "POINTS OF LIFE, A Memoir and More..."

"Kass" has been married for 30 years to Samira (Audeh), an educator in the Irvine School District. They have been residing in Orange, CA. He has four children and eight grandchildren from a previous marriage, who reside in northern California, (in Sacramento and in Napa).

Spiritual Practice Sunday, August 5
Please plan to join the spiritual practice conversation during Coffee Fellowship NEXT SUNDAY,  August 5. The Rev. Robin Clardy will lead us in Bringing Compassion to a Grieving Heart. We all experience grief and loss. What we do and don't do at this time impacts the journey our hearts take. Society, family, and friends teach us what we are to expect during this time, how we are to feel, respond, and how long it takes before we are "over it." Though these messages are not usually direct, they are still as powerful.

We will look at a spiritual practice of becoming aware of these expectations, acknowledging how they affect us, and learn to introduce new expectations that invite compassion and courage that nurtures hope and healing.

We received notice that a former member of our church,
Craig Lee Frantz, has passed into life everlasting.
A Celebration of Life Service  will take place at
First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton on August 11 at 2pm.
838 North Euclid Street, Fullerton, CA 92832
