STATE TO MAIN

May 15, 2024

As promised, here is your post-adjournment recap of where major bills ultimately landed. The House and Senate finally gaveled out on Saturday at 2:07 AM and 1:18 AM respectively, following a tumultuous day of negotiations. Bills will now head to the Governor for his consideration and potential veto. Legislators are then set to return to the State House on June 17 to try and garner the three-quarter vote majority to override his decisions.

As always, our advocacy team can be reached at govaffairs@vtchamber.com.

Sincerely,

Megan Sullivan, VP of Government Affairs

Join Us in Celebrating 100 Years of Excellence at the Country Club of Barre!

Dear Members and Friends,

Mark your calendars to celebrate the Country Club of Barre’s Centennial Celebration on Saturday, June 29th starting at 5:30pm. This incredible milestone is a testament to the enduring legacy and cherished memories shared by generations of our community. To mark this momentous occasion, we are organizing a spectacular anniversary celebration at the Club on Saturday, June 29th. Please note that this event will not be part of the Member Member tournament itself, but an additional event open to all members and guests!

What should I expect?

The tentative agenda includes a cocktail hour from 5:30-7:00 pm with light appetizers and a cash bar at Fairways and Greens. Grab a drink and some finger food while checking out a timeline of CCB’s history and reminiscing with friends. From 7:00-7:45pm, a collection of speakers will share some of CCBs rich history starting with Wayne Stiles’ original course design through the renovation to 18 holes and finally the changes that shaped the beautiful golf course we have today. Along the way, current and former members will share some of their favorite memories at CCB. Following our presentation, we encourage members to mingle, swap stories, and check out some of the historical artifacts we’ve gathered to share with you.

Can I participate?

Of course! A centennial celebration would not be complete without the contributions of our revered members. We are looking for current and former members to share some of your favorite memories with us so we can incorporate them into the celebration. We all know golfers love our stories and those stories aren’t short in nature, but we are limiting our formal speaking time to allow for more socializing and sharing personal stories. With that said, we would love for a select few to share a short story with everyone during the presentation portion of the evening. If you have a story to tell, please reach out to CountryClubofBarre@gmail.com and let us know. Even if we don’t have time for everyone to tell their stories, we are looking for written memories, photographs, or other submissions that can and be on display in the club in the weeks leading up the celebration and be featured at the celebration.

How can I help?

As part of our anniversary celebration, we are hosting a fundraising raffle to support numerous course improvements. We kindly invite local businesses to join us in commemorating this milestone by donating items for our raffle. Your contribution will not only help make our celebration unforgettable but will also contribute to the betterment of our community. If you would like to contribute to our raffle or learn more about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Cathy Systo at ccsysto@gmail.com or 802-249-1799. Your generosity will be recognized and appreciated by all who attend our celebration.

Ticket sales are underway! We have over 20 prizes already including the grand prize of a 2025 Membership to the Country Club of Barre! Stop by the Pro Shop to buy some tickets for a chance to win some incredible prizes.

Interested in contributing to the celebration in another way?

The Country Club of Barre could not exist without the incredible support of our membership. We are seeking sponsors to help us put on this amazing event. Please reach out to CountryClubofBarre@gmail.com if you’re interested in being a sponsor or if you have other feedback or ideas you’d like to share.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to celebrating 100 years of excellence with you!
