YOU'RE PROBABLY STILL PONDERING THE POTENTIAL OF PANDEMIC SILVER LININGS
WE ARE HAPPY TO REPORT THAT WPSBA'S 2021-22 Budget and Board of Director's Slate passed unanimously with participation of 78% of our member districts. Thank you for helping us in our work to support public education through participation in this week's Annual Meeting and our other programs throughout the year. In case you missed it, we focused on plucking the silver linings from the pandemic... so challenge yourself to find some change you want to keep with you as we grow closer to the end of the COVID era.
WPSBA'S FACTS & FIGURE$ IS GETTING A MASSIVE OVERHAUL
IT MAY HAVE BEEN JUST YESTERDAY, OR a week ago, that you received your new 2021 Facts & Figure$. The truth is that this publication reveals an important snapshot of our districts, but it's time to review the data to ensure we are presenting the most beneficial and current information. More input from you (the Facts & Figure$ users) is the key to providing the best possible product in the end, so please put aside 10 minutes to share your thoughts (or forward the survey link to someone you know uses the book).
SMALLER ROLE FOR PHILANTHROPIES IN EDUCATION
IT LOOKS LIKE GOVERNOR CUOMO'S PLAN to reimagine education is over. Instead of a reunion between the Gates Foundation and the politicians in Albany, the waning role of philanthropy in education policy coupled with stimulus spending has turned the tide away from donor-funded agendas. Foundations with education initiatives are still out there, but they have started to focus their efforts more locally and at the state level, rather then directing national change.
