WEEKLY BULLETIN | December 14, 2018
Have questions about the City's annual Curbside Leaf Collection? Our Director of Public Works Robert goes over the how-to's, tips and more for when the leaf collection trucks come to your neighborhood. Click here to watch the video . For more information about curbside leaf collection, visit www.collegeparkmd.gov/specialcollections#curbsideleaf .

Note for this weekend: With the possibility of flooding from heavy rain this weekend, please check your curbs and remove any piles of leaves that have gone off the curb into the flow line of the gutter. This will help prevent leaves from clogging stormdrains. For updates regarding this weekend's weather, visit weather.gov .
Important Safety Tips and Reminders for Winter Break
Before you leave for winter break or vacation, please check out the following safety reminders from the University of Maryland Police Department.

  • Double check all windows and doors are locked and secured prior to leaving.
  • If leaving for winter break, take valuable items (jewelry, money, portable electronics, etc.) with you to avoid potential theft.
  • Remove items of value and secure windows and doors from your vehicle.
  • Ask a friend or a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on your home while you are away.
  • Store and secure any loose items that might be in the yard (ladder, tools, bicycle, etc.)
  • Set your alarm to your security system.
  • If possible, put lights on a timer to give the appearance of someone being home.
  • Stop mail and newspaper deliveries.
Curbside Leaf Collections
Curbside leaf collection is on schedule . Weather permitting, crews will be in the following neighborhoods next week: SA5-Rhode Island Ave West, Cherry Hill & Autoville; SA6-Rhode Island Ave East; SA7-North End.

You can help by making sure there are no branches, brush or sticks in leaf piles. Rake your leaves and soft yard waste to the curb. To ensure collection, put leaves out by the first day listed. The calendar may show two or three days in an area, but we only collect once per street per collection cycle. Residents can find out when their neighborhood will be serviced by visiting our website for the most up-to-date calendar or look for signs posted in their neighborhood with the collection dates. Signs will be posted the week prior to collection.

Weekly collection of soft yard waste is suspended during November/December and early January. Bags or containers of soft yard waste will only be collected when the vacuum trucks are scheduled to be in your neighborhood. Do not mix twigs and branches with soft yard waste.
