April is coming to a close and May is on the horizon. The month of May is synonymous with the start of our “events season”. Check out the below info to learn about ways to get involved!


We invite our members and their key employees to join the Chamber staff and fellow business members on Wednesday, May 15 at the Wadsworth Mansion at Long Hill Estates, Middletown for an evening of networking, complimentary hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and soft drinks. Later in the month, the 41st Annual Middlesex Chamber Golf Tournament, presented by Liberty Bank will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middlefield. New this year, the Chamber has added an event on Lyman’s Apple nine course which will include a clinic with Lyman's PGA and LPGA Instructors, 9 holes of golf with cart, lunch, cocktail hour and dinner! On Saturday, June 1, join us in downtown Middletown from 12:00-10:00 p.m. for the state’s largest pride event, Middletown PrideFEST 2024!!! This day long celebration will feature an all-afternoon street festival that includes family friendly fun and activities for all ages as well as the Middletown Pride March, Pride Rally, two Pride Showcase Concerts, and a Tea Dance. The 27th Annual Cruise Night on Main Street, presented by NAPA, will roll onto Main Street on Wednesday, June 12 from 4:30-8:00p.m. Hundreds of cars are expected to line both sides of scenic Main Street from Washington Street to the South Green for this annual celebration of classic vehicles. Please join us on Thursday, June 27 for our 2024 Small Business Awards Ceremony, held at St. Clements Castle, Portland. During this event we look forward to honoring 10 Small Business Award Winners, who were nominated by their fellow chamber members. To register, please click here.


Rounding out a busy few weeks, we are looking forward to our Cornhole Tournament, hosted by Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort, Middlefield on Saturday, July 13. Route 9 Traffic Signal Removal Public Workshop

THIS EVENING - APRIL 30 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation is hosting another important Route 9 Traffic Signal Removal Public Workshop THIS EVENING, April 30 at Wesleyan University Beckham Hall, 45 Wyllys Avenue, Middletown. This workshop will feature an open house from 5-7pm, a presentation from 7-8pm, and an open house from 8-9pm. This workshop is held to identify ways to improve safety and reduce congestion on Route 9 in Middletown.

Program Highlight

Side Street to Main Street "Business Know-How" Program

The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the 2024 Side Street to Main Street Business “Know-How” Program is now accepting applications. Now entering its 13th year, Side Street to Main Street Business “Know-How” is designed specifically to assist minority small business owners in the community, who have not had formal business training, to become more successful by developing the attitudes, skills, and qualities necessary for effective business ownership, and success, taking them from the Side Street to the Main Street of the business community.



Business “Know-How”, funded by a generous grant from Eversource Energy, consists of four intensive entrepreneurial instructional sessions over a nine-week period and is offered free of charge to eligible participants. Classes will be held virtually on Tuesday evenings from 6:15-10:30 p.m. on the following dates: May 21, June 4, June 25, July 9, with a Certificate of Completion Presentation Ceremony on July 16.
