Thanks so much to all of you who have already submitted your pledge! If you have not yet submitted a 2019 pledge, we hope you will and humbly ask that it be submitted by November 1st if possible. Each and every pledge is very helpful as we continue Christ Church's ministry and mission of receiving God's grace and sharing it with one another and the world. Pledge cards are available at the church, or if it's easier for you, you can also simply email your pledge amount to our bookkeeper,
Amy Creasy.

The Christ Church Valdosta Lunch Bunch feeds 120 or more hungry children every first and third Saturday of the month. Workers from the church as well as other members of the community who volunteer gather at 11 a.m. at Christ Church to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They pack them in plastic bags, then brown paper bags with logo stickers together with chips, fruit, juice and other healthy goodies purchased from the Second Harvest Food Bank. Volunteers are welcome.
Would you like to be able to contribute to our Lunch Bunch outreach? We need fruit cups, drink pouches or boxes, and small bags of chips. Thanks for your help!

Oktoberfest this year is Wednesday, October 24th, with the biergarten opening at 6:00 p.m. and dinner served around 7:00. On the menu: Usinger's bratwurst from Milwaukee, potato salad and tossed salad, sauerkraut and other pickled things, rye bread, and beer and wine. Cost will be $10 per person.
Please note that this is an adult gathering for those 21 and older (please have proof of age with you). Childcare will be provided in the Gabard building. Since Jane needs to know how many bratwurst to order,
please sign up before October 11th. There is a sign-up sheet in the parish hall. If you'd like to contribute by bringing potato salad (German or "regular") or sauerkraut, there's a sign-up sheet for that as well in the parish hall. Danke schön!

And an El Pedregal wedding in October! |
The dates for the 2019 mission trip to the Dominican Republic are set for Monday, June 17, to Monday, June 24. The next step is to confirm these dates with the mission team support office in the Diocese of the Dominican Republic, and that process is underway now. When we receive final approval of those dates, then we can proceed to accept applications for the 2019 Go Team missioners and to decide whether Valdosta-based missioners will start their trip at the Valdosta airport (2017 pattern) or the Atlanta airport (2018 pattern).
In other news, missioners Julia and Julius Ariail will be in the Dominican Republic from October 18-25 and in El Pedregal from October 22-24, visiting with friends in the village and working with Padre Canela on plans for the 2019 trip. They have some great news to share about something else that is being planned for that time -- Jesús and Leidy, our long-time translator and mission team assistant, are getting married on October 23. If you would like for Julia and Julius to take a congratulatory card or letter from you to them to add to the wedding celebration, please send that card to them to arrive by Monday, October 15. Their USPS mailing address is 5802 Long Pond Road, Lake Park GA 31636-2712.
The planning webpage for the 2019 mission trip
is now online here.
All information about the trip will be added to this page just as soon as it is available.
