DR Mission Trip 2018: Plan B |
We now have ten people who have signed up for the 2018 mission trip "Go Team," two more than last week. The new 2018 missioners are from Trinity Episcopal Church (Statesboro, GA): Fred Richter, a veteran missioner who went on the first trip from the Diocese of Georgia to the Dominican Republic in 2001 and has gone many times since as a member of our Christ Church team; and his fellow Trinity parishioner, Mary Marwitz, a veteran international traveler who has completed several religious pilgrimages in Spain and Japan. This will be Mary' first trip to the Dominican Republic.
The signup deadline remains January 31, and cannot be extended beyond that date since we need to proceed in early February to work with our Dominican hosts to make decisions on the projects we will undertake and then determine a budget for those projects.
We have been monitoring the flight costs from Atlanta, and on January 19 the round-trip cost was $700.91. This price has been fluctuating between $640 and $700 for the past week.
If you are interested in becoming a missioner on the 2018 team, contact Julia and Julius Ariail [(229) 563-0209, julius.ariail@gmail.com] and
discuss your participation with them. Once you are accepted on the team, then you can proceed to send in your $100 deposit on the in-coumtry costs and purchase your flight ticket before the price increases yet again.
For more information and instructions on flight ticket purchases and deposits, check the planning page here.
