April Prayers Bring May Blessings

Spring is on its way and what better time to spring into prayer for new beginnings in your neighborhood. The Grace Worship Committee seeks your help to flood the atmosphere with life changing prayers to bring great blessing over your neighborhood. During April, starting right after Easter will you / your family join the Worship Committee in prayer - walking your individual neighborhoods? Will you prayerfully commit to taking spiritual territory with the Lord to change the spiritual atmosphere for your neighborhood block? Even if you don’t live on a block, you can still be part of this spring event (more on that in a moment). As the Lord pulled down strongholds and a wall for the Israelites as they marched around Jericho for 7 days, he can pull down strongholds in our individual neighborhoods. Seek the Lord’s leading regarding how many times he wants you to prayer-walk your block during April. This is a teaching moment expanding our prayer experience as families and individuals.

Here is a suggested strategy (if the Lord gives you a different strategy, go for it):

  1. Prepare for the prayer-walk before starting, asking the Lord to reveal anything you need to repent so you are prepared for a holy experience.
  2. Find blessing scriptures to pray as you walk by each household. Pray for each household’s relationships at home, in the neighborhood, and with the Lord.
  3. Seek the Lord’s guidance on what he wants you to pray about as you walk.
  4. If walking is not possible for you, sit on your porch and pray. If you live in a rural area with no blocks, pray from your porch for the neighbors down the road. Other options are to prayer-walk around a school, college campus area, government building, a park, a nursing home, or hospice center. Seek the Lord’s guidance where to pray.
  5. Lastly, an optional way to end the neighborhood prayer-walking experience is by making simple May Day blessing baskets to hang on each neighbor’s door. Include in the baskets, a note asking your neighbors if they have any prayer needs and whatever else the Lord lays on your heart. Your kids, grandkids or borrowed child will love making the baskets.
