AGRONOMY WEEKLY NEWS

Corn

After a huge stretch of harvest, we have put the brakes on this week being held up by some moisture. We expect things to kick back up today for another stint, until the possible precipitation on Sunday. We would peg this year's harvest at roughly 40%.

We had a lot of factors working against us this year, but some fields have been hit hard. There are good yields out there, most of which were sprayed with fungicides. Fungicide in corn is massively paying off this year. Going forward, we encourage you to talk about fungicide options with your agronomist. Veltyma and Miravis Neo will gain you weeks of foliar protection including against tar spot. But to gain extra protection against fusarium you must upgrade to Veltyma DLX, or go the high rate of Miravis Neo. This helps keep your varieties cleaner.

There are options for moving corn that has a higher vom test. Please reach out to Floyd for more information. We also have in general, lots of trucks on the road to move both wet and dry corn. Please reach out to Pam or Mycalie to set up a truck! 519-845-3301.

Please check out our website for more information on drying and shrinkage tables.

Soybeans

The past week was another push for getting the remaining soybeans out of the field. We would now peg soybean harvest at approximately 97% completed in our draw area.

We now have IP premiums for 2024! Please reach out to Megan (519) 898-2861 with any inquiries on growing IP soybeans! With the high IP prices there seem to be more IP acres out there as they are penciling high on the profit-per-acre scale. We urge growers to book your IP acres sooner than later to lock in the IP premium and get the seed you need.

Seed selling season has begun for soys and corn! Reach out to your salesperson to take advantage of early order and early pay discounts. Early order is early December for both Pride and Maizex. Booking early can ensure that you can get the the variety you want. In the Xtend vs Enlist debate, it seems to be trending towards Enlist varieties as there are less problems with spraying Enlist in crop vs dicamba.

Wheat

Wheat is looking good out there. The nicer weather with the rains greened up the wheat nicely, however, due to how saturated the soils are, we are seeing some fields with drowned out areas where water laid.

Are there any updates we missed? Reach out to your agronomist with any questions!
