A Message from Our Head of School
|
What a wonderful week we had. It is always such a blessing to have families join us for Mass here at OLG. On Monday and Tuesday, we had so many join us for the Family Masses; moms and daughters on Monday and dads and sons on Tuesday. I would like to thank the PSO and parent volunteers for, once again, doing a fantastic job organizing the event, the OLG Men’s Club for donating the donuts, Father Kevin and Father John for celebrating with us, and the Middle School Service Club for their help and time. If you didn’t have time to come this week, I encourage you to save the dates on your calendar for the Spring Family Masses on April 11 and 12.
I hope you are enjoying the MEA break that we are having! On Wednesday, the teachers and staff attended the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence Summit. They celebrated Mass with the Archbishop along with over 2,000 faculty and staff from other Catholic Schools in Minnesota. In addition, they attended professional development sessions related to their work throughout the day. It was an invigorating day for many.
Have a great weekend and see you next week.

A Message from Our School Principals
It was beautiful to see all the mothers take their daughters and fathers take their sons to Mass this week. At both Masses, Father Kevin invited the parents to bless their children with a simple sign of the cross on their foreheads. What a simple, yet profound sign of your and God’s love for your children! May God continue to bless all parents in their vocation and give the faculty and staff of OLG the graces needed to partner with you to make Jesus Christ known and loved in your children.
Early next week, students in grades 1 - 8 will receive their Fall 2022 MAP scores. Please look over your child’s results. If you want help interpreting the data you can look up NWEA MAP Testing: A Family Guide to MAP Growth or bring questions to parent/teacher conferences on November 7 and 8. While this data is useful, the results of this test are not a definitive measure of your child’s intelligence.
NWEA MAP provides a rich source of learning data that we, as a school, utilize to guide our work. This data allows us to monitor learning growth in each classroom and each grade level. The reports are able to show concepts of strength and concepts of weakness within each subject area for individual students and classroom groups. This information helps guide lesson planning. The cumulative data also helps us make decisions about curriculum and methods of instruction.
We hope you enjoyed the past couple days off of school and we look forward to welcoming students back on Monday!

| A Message from Our Preschool Director | |
Although it was a short week, we packed in a lot of fun and learning! Our Little Saints learned about spiders and made a scarecrow together, while our Young Scholars continued their theme of community with answering the question "How do we get around in our community?"
OLG Preschool is in need of a few items, and would appreciate any donations of new or gently used clothes from 3T to 4/5. We could also use some extra hats and mittens for students who may forget or misplace theirs. Please bring any donations to the bin just inside the Preschool doors. Thank you.

Preschool Director
