Principal's Message

Steve Rowekamp has decided to retire at the conclusion of the 2023-2024 school year! Steve has taught junior high math at GA over the past 11 years and has been an active member of our parish community for many more! He will be greatly missed by all for his ability to foster positive relationships with staff and students, his skill to help students understand the content he teaches, and his desire to make math fun for our students. He has truly demonstrated great passion, dedication, and commitment to our school and students over the past years and always did everything with a smile on his face. Please join me in congratulating him and wishing him well in retirement.

Additionally, Barb Pincumbe will need to undergo another surgery on her femur in order for it to heal properly. She will likely be out over the next 6 weeks. Chris Farrell will be substituting in her absence. Please join me in praying for her!

God Bless,

School News

Eclipse on April 8th

Guardian Angels School will operate with normal instructional hours on April 8th. Some schools and districts have cancelled school on this day; however, we will remain open. Several factors went into this decision, including time of day of the eclipse, other days the school has been off for professional development and holidays throughout the year, and understanding that many parents will also be working this day. We respect that some families may want to take their children out of school for all or part of this day. If you plan to do so, please email Corey Stoops by Monday, March 25th. We will follow normal attendance policies on this day.

7th Grade Retreat

Our 7th graders left early this morning for a leadership retreat at the Damascus Catholic Mission Campus. We have been able to offer this opportunity for students over the past several years, and it is always a meaningful, spiritually driven experience. Please pray for a safe and reflective trip!

Safe Snack List

Please be mindful of our Safe Snack List when bringing in food items for distribution to other students. A comprehensive list of what is allowed to be brought in can be found on here our school website. All items brought in for distribution must be included on this list. No homemade or bakery items are allowed.

Upcoming Road Closures

The Hamilton County Engineer’s Office announced work on the second of two landslide repairs begins Sunday, March 11. That includes a lane FULL ROAD CLOSURE of Clough just east of Five Mile Road, between Five Mile Road and Wolfangel Road (west of the Clough Chase subdivision).  Construction is anticipated to continue through mid-May.

The official detour will be Clough Pike, to Five Mile Road, to Beechmont, to Wolfangel Road, and vice versa. Motorists are urged to plan for delays on the detour route, and other areas as well, as other roadways will be affected by the change in traffic flow.

The Knights of Columbus Scholarship Essay Contest

The Knights of Columbus are offering two $500 scholarships! One scholarship is for students entering fourth and fifth grade, and the other is for students entering sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. The scholarships are available to students at Guardian Angels and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

This contest encourages today's youth to be more connected to their community and their faith. The goal of this program is to involve young Catholics in civic discourse and instill in them religious and life-affirming values. The theme of this year's essay is Evangelism — explain how we and the Church can evangelize our faith to families, friends, and the community in the digital age.

Applications must be completed by the student and represent their qualities and accomplishments. Click here for the application details.

Applications are due either via email or to the school office by April 10th.

Donate $1.00, Dance a Jig, and Wear Your Green!

Continue the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, March 18th and wear a GREEN out-of-uniform shirt with your uniform bottoms or G.A. sweatpants. Please wear school appropriate out-of-uniform shirts.

By donating $1.00, you are supporting local charities in their unending work for the poor of Cincinnati.  These people, like the real Saint Patrick, work tirelessly to care for the spiritual and physical needs of many people.

Leprechauns are actually one reason you’re supposed to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day—or risk getting pinched! The tradition is tied to folklore that says wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, which like to pinch anyone they can see. Some people also think sporting the color will bring good luck, and others wear it to honor their Irish ancestry.

K-8 students can be picked up by ringing the doorbell at Bishop Rehling Hall.

Track and Field Registration is Open

Guardian Angels Boosters are excited to announce that registration is now open for the upcoming third year of our current Track and Field program!

Last spring marked the first annual Guardian Angels Invitational K-6th grade and the response was so overwhelmingly positive that the CYO Track league awarded GA a 7th and 8th grade meet as well!! We also installed a Track and Field record board in the Main PC Gym at GA! Registration is now open, please click here to register!

GA will sponsor track teams this spring season that will last from March to mid-May. Boys and girls from grades K through 8 are invited to join and compete in various sprints, distance, relays and field events. The teams are K-2nd (co-ed), with separate boys' and girls' teams in 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, and 7th & 8th grade age groups. Different ages compete in different events including, 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m runs, 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 relays and High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put (softball throw for K-2nd) & Discus. There is something for everyone! Time commitment will be 1 to 2 practices a week (younger grades 1 practice, older grades 2 practices) held at Nagel Middle School, with 7 meets that last about 2 hours on Saturdays (K-6th), and 7-8th grade meets are held on Friday evenings. Please see the meet schedule here.

Playing another sport such as baseball, volleyball or soccer? No problem! This is a growing program — we are flexible about attendance and can work around other sports. We had many athletes last year that play on top club teams that still made track work in their schedules and we were happy to have them! We welcome all athletes to make as many practices or meets as they can. We encourage multi-sport athletes, as track will make your child quicker, faster and more explosive for all other sports!
