I try to find the unusual, from things to do at receptions, to destinations and this newsletter is no different and brings a new consideration for an Atlanta venue. Options to traditional ballrooms

In years past, the joy of the wedding experience was confined to a church sanctuary and the fun and fellowship with family and friends was confined to the social hall, or in some cases large hotel ballrooms. Today Brides are searching for unusual settings and venues that reflect their own creativity and personalities. Gardens, country clubs, parks and even private residences are the new norm. A wedding venue should enhance the experiences and senses of the bride, the wedding party and the guests. Because there are so many options, the choices can be overwhelming and even worrisome, once again diminishing the overall experience for the bride.

Weddings and Special Events

I just spent a day with Andrea Smith from Zoo Atlanta exploring special event options at Zoo Atlanta. What fun I had. If you really want your guests to gasp when they see your wedding ceremony, consider having "Gorillas in the Midst". Zoo Atlanta has a lovely Gorilla Deck which overlooks the Gorilla habitat. This deck can comfortably seat 120 for a wedding ceremony or 60 for a rehearsal dinner.

Another wonderful space is the Panda Veranda located just outside the Panda Habitat. This area is covered and offers a space large enough for a reception for 150 people. There is space for buffet, DJ, dance floor and seating. The Panda Habitat also offers a couple of other smaller event spaces which can be used for pre-function space or a special place for cake cutting.

For large events, Zoo Atlanta has the Ford Tent which when used in it's entirety can hold several thousand. The Zoo also allows guests to rent half the tent if such a large space isn't required. With the proper decor budget, this space can be completely transformed into a beautiful ballroom, as depicted in the picture above.
