The Art of Concrete

Throw Some Shade

As much as we long for these beautiful, sunny, warm days all winter long, we still need occasional shelter from the sun and rain as evidenced by next week's concrete company unfriendly forecast.

Our pavilions and pergolas are available in custom sizes and finishes, in wood or low maintenance vinyl, with upgrades such as weather proof canopies and stone or paver pillars.

Covered in a vine, strings of lights, or with an outdoor chandelier or fan hanging from the ceiling, pavilions and pergolas add height, architectural interest and function to any outdoor space.

Shady Beginnings

The earliest known surviving garden plan, dating back to about 1400 BC, belonged to an Egyptian high court official and it includes a pergola structure over the entry way in the garden.

The pavilion originated in France mostly for use in hospital design. The underlying rationale was with improved ventilation the mortality rate, which was exceedingly high in the 18th century, would be significantly reduced.

The umbrella was invented over 4,000 years ago and was used in early civilizations in Egypt, Assyria, Greece and China. They were initially intended to provide shade from the sun.
