This month, the Farmington Public Library is hosting our first ever Reality Fair. A Reality Fair is a hands-on experience which provides real-world financial education. In other words, it's a role-playing game where you can practice your budgeting skills.

First you'll find out who your randomly selected character is: What's your career path? Are you married? Do you have kids? Then, you'll visit a series of stations to make choices about your lifestyle. Will you rent or buy a house? What type of transportation can you afford? How much can you save each month? At the end, you'll see how well you were able to manage your budget to support the lifestyle you want.

The Reality Fair is part of our Smart Money series of events and resources. This program was made possible by a grant from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation.

Smart Money, Smart Movie: Pursuit of Happyness

Thursday, February 15, at 6:00pm

The library is always here to help, even if that means being an effective "Wing Ma'am" for your next date. This month, we're hooking you up with dinner and a movie - you just have to show up and bring a date! Dinner will be catered by Olive Garden, and the movie is The Pursuit of Happyness, a 2006 American biographical drama starring Will Smith. Your date will be so impressed by your thriftyness and your fancy library connections.

Doors will open at 5:45, and dinner will be availble throughout the movie, while it lasts. The movie is rated PG-13 by the MPAA.
