Today, as students across the city attend their first day of school, I am proud to let you know that --because of your help -- we have found fantastic mentors for each of the 1,300 young women in our program this year. But with two weeks left before our program year starts, we urgently need 200 more men to sign up to mentor young men in our program by September 15. 

 

Your recommendations have gotten us this far, and I'd like to ask for your help again to reach out to men you know who want to give back to our shared community.

Below is a sample email that you can send to the men in your personal and professional networks today. Ask them to sign up to become a mentor by September 15. Together, we'll ensure that more than 2,600 young people have the support they need to reach their college dreams.

As you may know, I'm an active supporter of a great youth mentoring organization called iMentor. iMentor provides high school students in low-income communities with college-educated mentors who help them develop the skills they need to succeed in college. This fall, iMentor will enroll hundreds of new students who need mentors, and I think that your guidance and support could empower a young person to reach their goals.

 

Would you join me in supporting this great program? To become a mentor, your first step is to complete iMentor's online application. If you complete your application and attend mentor training by September 15, you can be matched with a student this Fall.
