“August presents us with an urgency to experience, taste, and savor all of the bounty summer offers before the cool days and nights descend upon us and we are left with only memories."

Hello dear friends and clients,
Ah, the Dog Days of Summer. This time between August and the end of September is one of my favorite times in the Flathead Valley. The days are warm and bright and soon the nights will cool off. The Dog Days have to do with Sirius, the Dog Star, shining brightest this time of year and visible from any part of Earth. The season also marks the change on the tourist population. Folks looking for a life change will visit, knowing that it's just a bit less crazy than in June and July. I can't wait to meet new people.
Our market is continuing to show lower than normal inventory. Sellers don't seem to be motivated to give up their Montana real estate (and who can blame them)? Combined with rising interest rates, we are seeing some higher priced listings come on and then go off the market (a possible indication that the market is cooling down from the heat of the past 2 years). However, the condo and townhome market is seeing generally higher prices than in past years. I am hoping to see an increase in inventory with sellers sizing up, down, or building. It may also be a good time for you to think about listing your property and making your new dreams come true. I have a myriad of resources and a great team. Our experience, consistent record and excellent negotiating skills will successfully lead you toward a sale at the right price or help you find the perfect home. The Lang Team is here to make your real estate dreams come true whatever they are, wherever you are.
Another perk for you, as a luxury home seller, is our exclusive membership in Forbes Global Properties. What does this mean? When you list your luxury, high end property, your home will be opened up to the international market. Click here to view Bigfork properties on the Forbes website providing access to the entire Forbes network. Here's another advantage. Maybe you have always wanted to have a home in Florida, France, Hawaii or the place of your dreams. I can use my Forbes Global Properties referral network to connect you with an expert and knowledgeable Realtor in many national and international markets. Let's talk!
From our home to yours, we hope that all your dreams come true in Montana!

Big Catch at Harbor Village!
My good friend and client, Greg Faul, shared these photos with me.
Caught August 8 from his dock, a 40 inch Pike.
Two weeks ago, his grandson caught a similar fish in his lucky yellow pajamas!
If you should make a catch like my friend,

Testimonial
We had owned our property near Bigfork, MT for 32 years. The home was full of wonderful memories of family, friends and neighbors. We made the tough decision to sell. Our choice to use Denise and National Parks Realty was a good one. From our first meeting we felt at ease with Denise. She was professional, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
Denise helped us navigate the complexity of selling, with grace and humour. The staff at National Realty were friendly and helpful. By the end of the process, Denise felt like a friend.
Thank-you Denise for everything you did. And for managing the sales process and keeping us apprised at every juncture of the journey. We would highly recommend Denise and National Parks Realty to any of our family, friends and neighbors.--Vicki S

Denise's Cooking Corner - Tomato Sandwich (paired with a summer GNT)
|
|
You may not really need a recipe for a tomato sandwich, but sometimes varying it can be nice, especially if you tend to get stuck in a habit as the summer progresses. This version, based on pan con tomate, involves rubbing the guts of a ripe tomato all over garlicky toasted bread. More tomato slices are added on top, along with slivers of onion, mayonnaise, and bacon if you'd like. It’s a supremely messy sandwich and best munched over the sink or with plenty of napkins.
INGREDIENTS
4 slices crusty country bread
1 fat garlic clove, halved crosswise
1 ripe and soft tomato, halved
Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
Flaky sea salt
Mayonnaise, as needed
1 ripe but firm tomato, sliced
Thinly sliced white onion
4 slices cooked bacon (optional)
PREPARATION
Toast the bread. Take each slice and rub one side all over with the cut side of the garlic clove. (The clove should start to disintegrate into the bread.) Rub each slice with the cut sides of the soft halved tomato, pressing so the tomato flesh sticks to the bread. Drizzle bread with oil, then sprinkle with salt. Spread mayonnaise over the tomato pulp. Place the sliced tomatoes on top of 2 pieces of the bread. Cover tomato slices with onions and sprinkle with salt. Top with bacon if using, then use the other 2 slices of tomato-rubbed bread to make sandwiches. This is a messy sandwich!

“She wanted to be rooted so deep into the earth that nothing, no human, no force of nature, save an act of the heavens themselves, could rip her out. “Some people were meant for great, lasting legacies. Others were meant for small moments of goodness, tiny but that rippled and grew in big, wide waves.”
The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina is a novel about an Ecuadorian American family, now scattered across the United States that has to reconnect with their roots and uncover the secrets of their matriarch's past before they're all destroyed by a hidden danger.
It’s a story about family and fate and about dying.
Orquídea Montoya is dying, at least that’s what she tells her family when she sends them all letters saying to come and collect their inheritance. That puts the Montoyas in a bit of a quandary as they are used to a life without explanations. They know better than to ask why the pantry never seems to run low or empty, or why their matriarch won’t ever leave their home. Now things seem a little weird, but when they get to Orquídea’s house to find it overtaken with roots and decay, they are understandably a little worried and hope to get the answers Orquídea has kept from them all these years. Instead, she leaves them with more questions than answers, and suddenly a mysterious presence starts following the family and picking them off one by one.
What follows is a tale of magic, romance and family alternating between past and present that allows the Montoyas to learn the truth about Orquídea, where her magic came from and what exactly their inheritance is.
