We have our first clients! We’ve now completed our first full month of operations and are thrilled to be fully operational and serving clients. Through April we have had 18 client meetings with 11 prospective clients. We have three formal engagements and several other possible engagements. We have a world map in our office and ask our clients to put a colored dot on their country of origin - to date we have clients from Tonga, Eritrea, Honduras and Mexico.

Our Mission and Services

Immigrant Hope San Leandro is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing our immigrant neighbors with the HOPE of the gospel, HELP finding a pathway to legal residency, and a HOME in a church that cares for their needs.

Our main services are:

  • Naturalization and citizenship
  • Lawful permanent residency (Green Cards)
  • Family-based applications and visas
  • Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) matters

Sharing the Gospel

Over the past month, we’ve worked with our ministry director, Kyle Driggers, to develop a rhythm and model of how to be intentional about sharing our faith during our client meetings, including by mentioning our faith as the motivation for our clinic, asking to pray with our clients and providing them with information about Creekside Church if there is interest. In our 18 client meetings so far, we have prayed in 14 of them and handed out a Creekside postcard in 4 of them. We also have a prayer board with prayer requests for our active clients, which we pray over daily.

Prayer Requests

Here's how you can be praying alongside us:

  • Pray for God’s wisdom and guidance over all of the matters we are helping our clients with, and for successful outcomes.
  • Pray for God to continue to direct the people to us that we can most help.
  • Pray that in all of our interactions we are light for Him and that our clients will be drawn to Him.

Outreach

This month we have focused our outreach efforts on our local schools and the families served by the Cross Streets food pantry. We have also connected with a Spanish speaking community at First Presbyterian in Castro Valley. During May we plan to connect with another Spanish speaking community at Three Crosses in Castro Valley and to attend a family learning pad for the San Leandro Unified School District in late May.

When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them . . . Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.  I am the LORD your God.
