Sanctity of Life Sunday and
Free Book From Caleb Ministries
| | |
|
Sunday, January 21, 2024, was the National Sanctity of Life Sunday. On January 22, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a presidential proclamation designating the third Sunday of January (or close to that) as National Sanctity of Human Life Day, a day that emphasizes the need to protect and save lives, born or unborn. One of the best ways we can protect unborn lives is by supporting local pregnancy help organizations who daily reach women and families with messages of hope and life.
Sanctity of Life Sunday is often a very difficult day for women who are dealing with a past abortion decision. Living in His Forgiveness is a Bible study guide that offers encouragement of God’s complete forgiveness for an abortion decision. These Bible study books are available free of charge to anyone struggling with this. Please visit the Caleb Ministries table in the south lobby for a free copy. For more information, please visit our website at https://www.calebministries.org/.

Elder and Deacon Nominations Are Open
Until January 28
| | |
This Sunday is the last day for officer nominations. Would you prayerfully consider who you believe could serve our church well as an elder or deacon? Through these offices Christ rules and shepherds his church. All nominees must be male and a member of our church for at least two years by his election (June 2024). The nomination form gives additional attributes of elder and deacon to consider as you are thinking of men to nominate. Nomination forms are available at the tables going into the sanctuary and can be turned in at the Welcome Center in the main lobby of the worship center. The forms are also online by clicking here. Nominations will be received until the end of the day, Sunday, January 28. Thank you!

Aaron Andrade
Aaron grew up in southeastern Massachusetts. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, married his high school sweetheart, and completed two deployments to Iraq. He studied business management as an undergraduate student and earned his M.Div. from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He currently works as a business consultant, providing leadership and organizational development, executive coaching, and strategic advising.
Aaron has served in previous church roles primarily as a worship director along with teaching roles and is now pursuing chaplain ministry. He, his wife Laura and three children, Julia, Brayden, and Ava, moved to Charlotte in 2021. His favorite things about North Carolina are more sunny days, using the word “ya’ll,” pimento cheese, North Carolina BBQ, and not shoveling snow.

Justin Wilson
Justin was born and raised in Charleston, Illinois. After sitting on the bench for a year of college baseball, he discerned a call to ministry that has since taken him from sitting on the bench to sitting in the library. He transferred back to his hometown and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Communication in Organizations. Near the end of undergrad, he met his wife, Lydia, while working at a summer camp. They have been married since January 2022 and are expecting their first child this Valentine’s Day. Justin began his M.Div. studies at Reformed Theological Studies in 2023.

Support Groups
Begin Monday, February 12
| | |
|
Christ Covenant offers three different types of support groups facilitated by caring members of our church who understand what you may be going through and want to help. Grieving a loss, walking through a divorce, or providing care for a parent or child are all difficult experiences you don’t have to go through alone. Also, if you have a family member or friend going through these difficult seasons of life, let them know that these groups are here for them as well. You do not have to be a member of Christ Covenant Church to join one of these support groups.
Grief Support
GriefShare is a video seminar series featuring some of the nation’s foremost Christian experts on recovery topics as seen from a biblical perspective. Our next GriefShare session will begin Monday, February 12, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm in worship center room 107. You can register at www.griefshare.org. Contact Carl Scheide at fromdust2glory@gmail.com with any questions.
Divorce Recovery
We live in a culture where divorce is increasingly prevalent. Christ Covenant offers support groups for those moving through separation and divorce out of a desire to restore hope through the gospel.
Christ Covenant uses the DivorceCare program in leading 13-week groups to help men and women recover from the pain of separation and divorce. This is a support group that meets weekly and includes three key parts: a video seminar featuring top divorce recovery experts, small group discussion about the video and issues faced by the individual group members, and a personal workbook with study that reinforces each session’s topic. Our next session will begin Monday, February 12, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm in worship center room 201. To find out more about the DivorceCare program, or to register for our next session, go to divorcecare.org. If you have any questions, please contact Gaylene Scheide at gscheide@christcovenant.org.
Caregivers
Are you caring for a parent, spouse, or child? Have you been caring for a loved one for a long time or just beginning your journey? We have a support group just for caregivers. We’d love for you to join us.
Caregivers is a book study along with presentations by local resources for the many typical needs for this season of life. Our next session will be Saturdays, from 9:00 am - 10:30 am, beginning Saturday, March 2, in worship center room 107. If you would like to either join a group or learn more about Caregivers ministry, please email Gaylene Scheide at gscheide@christcovenant.org.

Children's Sunday School Spotlight
During Sunday School this morning, all our children from two years-old to fifth grade are learning about Jacob from The Biggest Story Bible Storybook curriculum, from the lesson “Joseph’s Mean Brothers and What God Meant to Do” on Genesis 37 and 50 about Joseph interpreting Pharaoh’s dream, Joseph forgiving his brothers, and Joseph saving his family from famine. If you sit near a family with young children, please take a moment to ask the children to share what they learned in Sunday School with you!
