We Stand Together
The Cinema Arts Centre community, in a grassroots effort, has produced a short film, "We Stand Together" in order to articulate an aspirational vision of respect, inclusion, and harassment-free environments for all. Written by CAC Board Member Jacqueline Strayer, the film opens with the following message:

"Reflecting on recent events, we, as an art house theater, wanted to share with you this message about the organization we strive to be, the environment we work to create, and the values we seek to advance in our community."

In coordination with local filmmakers, Cinema Arts Centre members and staff, and members of our local community, the film was produced earlier this year and premiered at the Art House Convergence National Conference in Utah, attended by over 600 executives from independent cinemas and film festivals across North America at a plenary session called "Harassment and Intimidation have No Place in the Art House" where Strayer, an expert on sexual harassment, served as a panelist.

“I thought this was a terrific opportunity for us to make a public statement about who we are and what we value,” Strayer commented. “The concept of the piece is positive and showcases the diversity of the communities and the people we represent throughout North America. I was so delighted how enthusiastically our community supported this message and its production.”

Thanks to the support of Spotlight Cinema Networks, the film is now available in DCP format to any art house theater who chooses to promote this message by running the film with their trailers and/or share via their websites and social networks.

“Spotlight is committed to upholding the values of tolerance and respect that are expressed so thoughtfully in this film. We are proud to support our partners, Cinema Arts Centre and Art House Convergence, to share this important message with the art house and film festival community across North America,” commented. Jerry Rakfeldt, CEO, Spotlight Cinema Networks.

Cinema Arts Centre Co-Director Dylan Skolnick added, “'We Stand Together' reflects what we have been advancing in our local community for over 40 years. This is just the kind of message that signals to everyone how we should interact and respect one another.”

We are excited to have obtained noteworthy film celebrity talent who will be promoting and endorsing this message through their social channels.

With gratitude, we acknowledge the following for financial and/or in-kind support of "We Stand Together":

Sponsor Spotlight: Studio G Pilates
The Cinema Arts Centre is so grateful to all of its local business sponsors whose support helps to ensure that we can continue to deliver our mission to bring the best in independent film artistry to Long Islanders and to provide a welcoming venue for making meaningful community connections.

We are so proud of our long relationship with Studio G Pilates . Not only does Studio G Pilates offer a 10% discount to CAC Members , but they have supported our Academy Awards Night Fundraiser year after year through sponsorship and contributions to our silent auction and raffle.

Studio G Pilates is a fully equipped Pilates studio in East Northport, offering private, semi-private and group sessions at affordable rates. Instructor Sandy Godina is a former attorney who was introduced to Pilates while practicing law and enjoyed it so much that she changed careers. Sandy received her certification from Romana’s Pilates, where she trained with Joseph Pilates’ world-renowned protégé, Romana Kryzanowska, and master instructor Sari Mejia Santos. Sandy has taught students of various ages (from 9 to 90) and skill levels (beginner, advanced and in-between). She also has experience teaching students with different injuries. She believes that everyone’s body, from the beginner to the advanced student, is a work in progress, and she enjoys challenging her clients to exceed their own expectations.

"We are happy to sponsor the Cinema Arts Centre because of the caliber of movies they show and because they show movies that you can't see just anywhere. The Academy Awards Night Fundraiser is special because it is always fun -- besides watching the Oscars, everyone gets to enjoy great food, bid on raffles and silent auction items and play trivia. It is the movie lover's Super Bowl party. Anyone who hasn't attended should go at least once," Sandy Godina shared.

SEAT REPLACEMENT UPDATE:

During last year's annual campaign we reserved a portion of funds raised for seat replacement. Funds raised through sales of seat plaques have also been reserved for seat replacement. However, the timeline of this project has changed. Originally scheduled for fall, and then winter, we are now waiting for a third party issue to be resolved before we can set a new date for replacing our seats in cinemas one and two. All funds contributed specifically for seat replacement are being held aside for this project, which we are committed to seeing through. We will continue to provide updates as the timeline becomes more clear.

THANK YOU.
