Welcome Home Celebration sponsors and guests raised $181,695 for affordable housing!

This year's Welcome Home Celebration took place on May 15, 2024 at the Bethesda Chevy Chase Country Club.


More than 280 guests were in attendance to enjoy phenomenal networking, great auction items, and a plethora of food and drink. We are so thankful to our sponsors and everyone who participated in the silent auction and/or our final ask led by the Honorable Craig Rice!

Meet Our New Board Members

Rose Sittner

Rose Sittner's career spans diverse roles that reflect her commitment to service and administrative excellence. Beginning as an executive assistant in commercial real estate from 1984 to 2001, Rose honed her organizational skills and supported key operations in the industry. Transitioning to entrepreneurship, she founded Simply Elegant, a successful gift basket business catering primarily to corporate clients, showcasing her creativity and business acumen.

From 2009 to her retirement in December 2023, Rose thrived as a legal secretary at Shulman Rogers, contributing to the Commercial Real Estate Transaction group. Her role extended beyond administrative support as she actively engaged with various committees, including the Community Outreach, Secretarial Advisory, and Health and Wellness committees. Complementing her professional journey, Rose's passion for community service shines through her extensive volunteer contributions. Over the years, she dedicated her time to a retirement home in Atlanta, GA, supported the Border Babies Project at Children’s Hospital, and served as a lay counselor at a women’s center for nearly 15 years. Her advocacy extended to her involvement with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), where she continues to volunteer and advocate passionately. Rose believes deeply in the power of volunteerism to strengthen communities and unite people in meaningful ways.

Albert Stancil

Albert Stancil’s tenure as a Staff Attorney at both the University of Maryland and Maryland Legal Aid has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of housing law and its implications on individuals and communities. He has worked extensively with survivors of crime, specializing in providing direct legal services and advocacy to individuals facing housing challenges, including evictions and lease bifurcation. 

His experience in handling litigation related to victimization, enforcing crime victims’ rights, and ensuring access to financial resources and public benefits aligns closely with the mission of Housing Unlimited, Inc.


In addition to his legal expertise, Albert’s involvement in various leadership roles during his academic and professional journey underscores his commitment to service and community engagement. Whether serving as the Secretary/Executive Board Member of the Black Law Students Association or co-founding the Fisk Political Review, he has demonstrated a dedication to fostering inclusivity, promoting advocacy, and educating the community on critical issues. As a Board Member at Housing Unlimited, Inc., he is eager to leverage these skills to contribute to long-range and short-range planning, resource development, and fostering effective management policies.


Furthermore, Albert is deeply committed to the values and mission of Housing Unlimited, Inc. and is excited about the opportunity to collaborate with fellow board members in advancing the organization's objectives. His passion for advocating for vulnerable populations, coupled with his legal expertise and leadership experience, positions him well to make meaningful contributions to the Board. Albert lives in Hyattsville with his family and his pet cocker spaniel Nine. We are so grateful to welcome Albert to our Board!
