President Biden unveils new steel and aluminum rules | |

President Biden announces new melt and pour requirements for steel and aluminum to prevent China, Russia and other countries from evading US tariff and trade regulations. On July 10, President Biden announced new rules to establish a country of smelt and country of most recent cast requirement for imports of aluminum articles and derivative aluminum articles from Mexico, on imports of aluminum and steel in the United States from Mexico to prevent importation of metals from Russia, Chian, Belarus, or Iran and …”an increase in the duty rate for imports of aluminum articles and derivative aluminum articles that are products of Mexico containing aluminum for which the reported primary country of smelt, secondary country of smelt, or country of most recent cast is China, Russia (subject to paragraph 10 of this proclamation), Belarus, or Iran.“
He also announced a new melt and pour requirement for imports of “articles and derivative steel articles that are products of Mexico, and an increase in the duty rate for imports of steel articles and derivative steel articles that are products of Mexico that are melted and poured in a country other than Mexico, Canada, or the United States.” This will prevent China and other countries from evading US tariffs by shipping through Mexico.

The Rotary Club of Wilmington, founded in 1914, has met continuously at the Hotel du Pont since that day. One of more than 40 Rotary clubs in Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore, the club hosts speakers and throught-provoking programs on critical local issues. The club's activities also include public service and scholarships. Partnering with other Wilmington clubs, it created the Can-Do Playground in 2007. It further works each year to pack 10,000 meals shipped to developing nations to feed children.
