Summer Reading is here! Log your reading, write book reviews, and complete fun activities, all tracked online with Beanstack. For your reward, choose between prizes and raffle tickets - enter the "Prizes" game to earn pins and stickers, or enter the "Raffle" game to earn chances to win a $25 gift card. Adult Summer Reading Program

June 1-July 31

Summer Reading is back for adults! Ages 18-109, log your hours spent reading via the Beanstack app. First-hour read you get a Waynesboro Public Library mug! Reading for 5 hours gets you a ticket towards your pick of a gift card from local businesses such as River Burger Bar, Delly Up, French Press, Havoc House, Basic City Brewery, the City Foxes, and more! Gary Reid Presents: 

A Life of Sorrow

Come join Gary Reid as he performs songs by Carter Stanley and tells stories about his fascinating musical career. Carter Stanley was raised in the coalfields of Appalachia during the hardscrabble days of the Great Depression, the bright lights of a country stage raised the hairs on the back of a 10-year-old's neck!  A decade later, his musical expression of choice was a new phenomenon known to many as the high lonesome sound... what would come to be known the world over as bluegrass. Tormented by a parent's adolescent rejection and frustrated by the lack of commercial success -- still he held to his dream. He played the music, he wrote the songs, and ultimately... he self-destructed. A Life of Sorrow is the story of one man's musical journey. From the Clinch Mountains of Virginia, around the world, and back home again.
