Cookbook Club
Wednesday, January 24th, 7:00p-8:00p - Community Room
Join our new book club! Select and prepare a recipe from the month's cookbook, and we’ll gather for a potluck to discuss the cookbook. Copies of the book will be available at the Adult & Teen Services Reference Desk for check out. Bring all you need to serve the dish. Paper plates, plasticware, napkins, and water will be provided. This club meets the fourth Wednesday of each month (there are no summer meetings). Registration required.

Winter Reading Program
December 1st through February 29th, 2024
Join us for our Winter Reading Program for children ages 3-12. Beginning December 1st, Sign up through Beanstack at: waterfordmi.beanstack.org. When you are finished, stop by the children’s department to collect your bookmark, pencil, and book. Complete the reading challenge by Thursday, February 29th for a chance to win a gift card.

Weekly Storytimes: Session I: January 16th through February 14th
Drop-in storytimes are 30 minutes long and include a variety of stories, songs, fingerplays, and other activities. Choose the age-appropriate session from those listed below. NOTE: Children must be accompanied by a parent or a caregiver. No registration required.
Babytime Storytime

Create yarn pom-poms, then turn them into different animals, or design amazing art projects with yarn. Recommended for ages 8-12. No registration required.

Teen Take & Make Kit – Stress Balls
January 6th – January 20th
Are you feeling post-holiday stress? Is studying for your exams stressing you out? Take some time out to make a stress ball that you can use when you’re feeling frazzled. Instructions and most supplies will be included in the kit. All you have to do is pick up the kit and then you can make this craft in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. Supplies are limited, so these kits are reserved for kids in 6th through 12th grades only. One kit per person. Registration required to reserve your kit that can be picked up at the Adult and Teen Reference Desk between January 6th and January 20th.

Waterford Genealogical Society (WGS)
Afternoon meeting: Wednesday, January 3rd, 1:00p - 3:00p - Community Room
Genealogy is the study of family ancestries and histories. The (WGS) meets on the 1st Wednesday afternoon of the month in the Library’s Community Room. All are welcome to attend.
Evening meeting: Tuesday, January 9th, 7:00p - 8:30p via Zoom
A meeting of The Waterford Genealogical Society online via Zoom. All are welcome to attend. If you wish to attend you must register and enter your email address so we can send you the zoom link. Please register before 5pm of the day of the meeting. Julia Hanneman-Schoenbach moderaties the meetings. Meets online the second Tuesday of each month except in July and August.

Join us for free afternoon movie matinees. Most titles run between 90 to 120 minutes. Popcorn and beverages will be provided, but you may also bring your own snacks and drinks. No alcoholic or uncovered beverages. No registration required.

Watercolor Basics with Katie
Saturday, January 20th, 2:00p-3:30p - Community Room
Join us for a fun, relaxing step-by-step watercolor painting class. First we’ll draw (or trace depending on your comfort level with freehand drawing) an image, and then learn a bit about watercolor and mixing techniques before painting. All supplies will be provided, but if you already own a set of watercolor paints and paintbrushes you’re welcome to bring those instead. Registration required.

Computer/technology help. One-on-one assistance with your own device or computer (bring it in with you). Our computer systems administrator will do his best to troubleshoot your problem, answer your questions, or advise you on what to do. Registration required.

The Friends of the Library accepts gently used books in SALEABLE condition on the second Saturday of each month from 10:00a - 1:00p. Donations will be considered for use in the Library's collection as well as merchandise included at the Friends Used Book Sales.
