Building upon the highly successful, in-person workshop of the same name, this workshop series casts a wider net in assisting and supporting congregations and religious institutions contemplating developing their properties for affordable housing.


The curriculum offered in the series provided the unique opportunity for attendees to learn from leading industry experts: CEO and Founder, Landis Graden, Vice President Lauren Jennings of DCG Strategies and the following industry experts.

Michael Pappas,

Executive Director, SFIC


Michael G. Pappas was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. He graduated from Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA) in 1983, after which he successively worked as a lobbyist, regional field director for a presidential campaign and investment banker for the oldest municipal bond firm in New Jersey. In 1987, he left the world of politics and finance and enrolled at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (Brookline, MA) attaining an M.Div., with honors, in the class of 1992.

Landis Graden,

CEO & Founder, DCG Strategies


Landis Graden is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of DCG Strategies. Landis is a serial entrepreneur having founded over 10 companies. Most recently, he is the Co-founder of a technology start-up company as well as a Co-founder and Board Member of United Tech Cities (www.unitedtechcities.com), a non-profit organization focused on preparing underrepresented youth and young adults for fulfilling careers in STEAM fields.

Lauren Jennings

Vice President, DCG Strategies


Born and raised in Oakland, California, Lauren Jennings is passionate about supporting and creating the advancement and empowerment of women. A graduate of Cornell University, Lauren serves as the President of DCG Strategies and is responsible for the strategic implementation of daily business operations.

Paul McElwee

AIA, LEED AP, Principal


With over 25 years of experience, Paul’s career has focused on the design of residential communities, with specialized experience in affordable multifamily and senior housing projects, encompassing assisted living, special needs, and permanent supportive housing. A licensed architect and LEED Accredited Professional, Paul received a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and is a member of the East Bay Housing Organization’s Faith & Justice Committee.

Caroline McCormack

Vice President of Lending and Policy

San Francisco Housing Accelerator Fund


Caroline (she/her) joined the Housing Accelerator Fund as the Vice President of Lending and Policy in July 2023 and brings nearly a decade of experience in housing policy and development. She most recently was Director of Preservation in the Northern California office of Enterprise Community Partners where she led its preservation policy, advocacy, and technical assistance strategy in the 9-county Bay Area.
