Virtual Event: The Future of Food and Farming
October 29th at Noon
Join Cristo Rey Cooking with Character Club students as they moderate a conversation with Samuel Bertram, founder of vertical farming start-up, OnePointOne and Gisela Bushey, CEO, Loaves and Fishes. Bertram will talk about the global food struggles we face. OnePointOne’s fully-automated indoor farms are making an impact on global food supply issues. Bushey will share insight into how Covid-19, has impacted food insecurity locally. She’ll discuss how innovative solutions are meeting the changing needs within our communities.
Virtual Event: Wine and Global Flavors
November 5th at Noon
Join passionate and skilled adult beverage gurus Blake Tucker and Christine Moore for a lively conversation about all manner of beverages! How does understanding agriculture, topography and weather make you a better drinker of wine, beer and spirits? All will be revealed in this fun and informative conversation. Geography and climate have impacted the cultures and cuisines we see throughout the world. Take your understanding of wine, beer and spirits on a journey through time and space and gain a more intuitive understanding of how to pair drinks with food. You must be 21 or older to participate.
In-Person Event: Oktoberfest!
October 17th at 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Join us for an evening of safely distanced togetherness in the stunning and open backyard of Kathy and Mike Armistead. Taste beers from around the globe paired with food that reflects the bounty of Northern California harvest season. Beer aficionado and co-owner of Ludwig’s German Table, Ben Bate, will guide attendees through a unique flight of beers. Following the tasting, guests will fill their steins with a favorite brew and enjoy the October evening.

Virtual Event: Food of Cristo Rey's Community
October 22nd at Noon
Within our Cristo Rey community there are rich culinary traditions, skilled home chefs and passionate student foodies. During this virtual event, Fr. Peter Pabst, and a few students and families will share their favorite recipes. Our Cooking with Character Club members will be on-hand to discuss the club’s mission and impact.

In-Person Event: Snack and Sip Wine Tasting at Kings Mountain Vineyard
November 8th at 11-1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m.
Enjoy socially distanced wine tasting benefitting Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School. Join Cristo Rey board member Kristi Markkula Bowers mid-day from 11 to 1 p.m. for a globally flavored box lunch and wine tasting or in the afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. with a globally flavored snack box. Upon arriving, you will be given your box lunch or snack box and shown to a 10 foot X 10 foot square on the property that will be yours to use during the tasting. We will provide you with your own Cristo Rey blanket that you can use to picnic on the ground. You will also be given a wine glass to visit and taste wine from Kings Mountain Vineyards. You will have the opportunity to taste these wines and then purchase them with the proceeds benefiting Cristo Rey. Join us for tasting, walking the vineyards and enjoying the beauty of Kings Mountain Vineyards. Sturdy shoes and the ability to walk comfortably around the property are recommended. Cristo Rey plans to have an indoor event with more comfortable seating in the Spring post Covid-19.
Virtual Event: Sharing our Cultures and Community
November 12th at Noon
Food and cultural activities allow us to share our differences in unique ways and provide a platform to grow understanding and connections within our communities. Attendees at this truly special, online event will hear from philanthropist and community activist, Judy Marcus, who also is a Cristo Rey board member and Evvia restaurant owner. Judy will join Fr. Pabst and Cristo Rey students to talk about her cultural and community work.
