Nighttime Closures of Wall Avenue


Two UDOT projects are currently underway on Wall Avenue: a pavement rehabilitation project and a bridge replacement project over the Ogden River. To facilitate these two concurrent project’s progress, Wall Avenue will undergo temporary nighttime closures.

 

Road Closure Details:

 

  • Dates: Tuesday, June 11, 2024, and Wednesday, June 12, 2024
  • Location: 20th Street to 17th Street
  • Time: 9 PM to 6 AM

 

During these hours, Wall Avenue will be CLOSED to all traffic from 17th Street to 20th Street. Please use Lincoln Ave. as a detour.


These closures will allow construction crews to remove the traffic control setup from the bridge replacement project, grind the old asphalt, lay down new asphalt, and re-establish the necessary traffic control for daytime operations at the bridge. Please follow posted detours.

Pavement Removal and Replacement:


  • Schedule: Nightly Saturday, June 8 through Wednesday, June 12
  • Time: 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Work Details: Crews will remove and replace asphalt pavement along roadway shoulders and side streets throughout the project corridor.


Ongoing Activities


  • Signage Installation: Ongoing this week throughout the project corridor.


Traffic Impacts


  • Closures: Expect shoulder and lane closures around the clock while crews perform their work this week.
  • Delays: Minimal travel delays are anticipated.
  • Safety Reminder: Please slow down and move over for your safety and ours.


Project Background


The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is performing asphalt rehabilitation on Wall Avenue (SR-204) between Riverdale Road and 33rdStreet and from 23rd Street to US-89 in Harrisville.


Key Highlights:


This project involves removing old asphalt and placing new asphalt pavement to enhance this crucial north-south route which links Riverdale, Ogden, and Harrisville, and other key locations. It involves:


  • ADA Ramp Upgrades: Modifications ensure sidewalk transitions are accessible to everyone.
  • Adjusting Manholes: Lowering utility accesses (i.e. manholes and water valves) to allow for milling.
  • Milling: Removing old asphalt which will make the roadway rough temporarily.
  • Paving: Applying new asphalt for a smooth finish.
  • Raising Manholes and Valves: Adjusting utility access points to the new roadway surface.
  • Roadway Striping: Applying final paint for striping/crosswalks/messages to new pavement.


Schedule & Impacts:



  • Pedestrian Ramps/Utility Adjustments: Daytime work Monday through Friday 7am to 7pm.
  • Roadway: Nighttime work Sunday through Thursday 7pm to 5am.
  • Temporary sidewalks closures during ped ramp demolition and reconstruction.
  • Lane shifts and temporary lane closures during construction. 
  • Nearby residents will notice construction-related noise and vibration.
