We're Expanding
to Better Serve You!

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is here to tackle the needs of the community and transform animal welfare in the Miami Valley.

With more than $5 million raised, we are 100% fully funded to embark on the first phase of our Master Plan. With plans to break ground this Spring, these new amenities will provide much-needed services to the people and pets in our community including a:

  • Regional High-Volume Spay/Neuter Clinic that will positively impact the unowned cat overpopulation concerns facing our neighborhoods.
  • Full-Service, Needs-Based Animal Hospital that will help pet owners in our community better care for their pets.
  • Cruelty & Neglect Animal Rehabilitation Center that will house, protect and rehabilitate animals who have been involved in cruel or neglectful circumstances.

We're Not Done Yet - We Need You!
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton has a big vision for all animal welfare in the Miami Valley. Thanks to a small group of generous supporters, fundraising for expanding the services offered at our Nicholas Road location is complete. The next phase in our Master Plan to help more animals in need is the creation of a new adoption and community center at our site on Austin Boulevard. This new facility near Austin Landing will allow us to continue to move forward and impact the community to better meet the needs of all animals, while saving more lives!

Score Big with Your Pets During Super Bowl Sunday
You’ve cooked up your appetizers, invited your friends over and are ready to cheer on your favorite team during this Sunday's Super Bowl. Whether you’re rooting for the 49ers, the Chiefs or just watching the Puppy Bowl like many of us, remember to be considerate of your pets.

Loud parties can be overwhelming for your animals and many of the foods and drinks we love can hurt our furry friends if they ingest them.

Before your friends come over, follow these tips to keep your pets safe on Super Bowl Sunday.

If it's too Cold for You,
It's too Cold for Your Pets
With cold weather upon us, we all need to be diligent in monitoring animals outdoors.

If you see an animal that is outdoors or looks like they need help, please report it by clicking here or by calling your local law enforcement agency or the Humane Society of Greater Dayton's Cruelty/Neglect Department at 855-PETS-911. We Love Our Volunteers!
February's Volunteer
of the Month
We want to thank Gretchen so much for all she does to help the animals here at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton!

Almost every week, Gretchen comes into the shelter to hep in so many ways, She greets customers, helps with adoptions, returns phone calls. She really does it all!

In addition to office work, she is also part of our Feline Friends and has also completed our Animal Reiki training so she is now certified in Animal Reiki with shelter animals.

Gretchen is so kind and cheerful and her smile is contagious. We are so lucky to have her as part of our HSGD family and are honored to name her as our February 2020 Volunteer of the Month!
