An Invitation from the Parent Leadership Group

Panel Discussion and Q&A: Learning to Read in a Waldorf School

Tuesday, December 5, 7-8:30pm

WWS Auditorium and on Zoom (Zoom details to follow)

Waldorf’s approach to literacy is designed to foster life-long, passionate readers and recognizes that there is a continuum of development. Not all students read on the same timeline. Some parents wonder if their child who is already reading will be bored and others wonder when their child will read.

  • The PLG, in collaboration with the Children's Garden and Lower School faculty, invites you to a panel discussion and question and answer session to learn more about the Waldorf approach to teaching reading.
  • Teacher panelists from the Children’s Garden and Lower School will illuminate the Waldorf approach, and parent panelists will share their experiences.
  • Please submit your questions for the panelists in advance.

Evergreen Spiral

Community Invitation

Evergreen Spiral - Open to the Community

Wednesday, Dec 6 at 3:15pm

The event is free, but reservations are required.

Spaces typically book quickly.

Current families, alum families, and community friends are invited to walk the Evergreen Spiral this year. Each participant is given a candle to light and add to the path of the spiral. This contemplative activity is a time of peaceful reflection giving us an opportunity to connect to our inner light as we approach the winter solstice and the darkest days of the year.

**Given the nature of the event, there will be no late seating.

2023 Fall Bazaar

Thank You!

Our sincerest gratitude to everyone who helped make this year’s Bazaar a success! A very special thank you to Jesse Travis, the P/FO Chairperson, who led the charge with her amazing organizational and volunteer management skills. Not only did she get the entire Waldorf Store’s inventory into the Square app for ease of check out, she is also managing the aftersale tirelessly! She had grace under pressure, and seemed to be everywhere she was needed, exactly when she was needed!

Major thanks also go to Meg Kneisl, the Assistant Director of Development and Events, who stepped into planning her first Fall Bazaar with capable dedication and a can-do attitude, managing the entire vendor component, plus so many other details, small and large!

A big thank you to all of our P/FO volunteers and faculty for working tirelessly during setup. Thank you to Dawn Beckman for managing all the advance ticket purchases. Thank you to Alia Goodyear for designing the Bazaar artwork for the postcards, signs, and t-shirts. Thank you to Laur Garner for maintaining and charging our fleet of iPads and troubleshooting setup. Thank you to our high school students, for managing the big furniture moves quickly and efficiently. Thank you to Aglaia Benni for preparing the snacks for Preview Night so beautifully, and leading the floral decorating team. A special thank you to Judy Grossman for playing lovely harp music during Preview Night, which truly elevated the experience.

Special thanks to our Activity Coordinators, who put in extra time and without whom we simply couldn’t have the Fall Bazaar: Robin Leake and Cindy Rupert for their tireless dedication to the magical Crystal Cave, Lilli Kuth, Marlies Analbers and Remy Jokhoe for the wondrous Enchantment Shop, Hannah Cooke and Maria Alonso for reimagining the Fishing Cove and Castle Catapult in new spaces, Jenia Beer for creating a beautiful space for Silk Painting, Eric Quirk for all the work that went into the catapult kits for Wood Craft, Joy Shchupak for adding her special touches to the new Suncatchers and Windchimes activity, Susan Peckham for her steady guiding hand in producing Candle Craft, Lindsey Simpson for the glorious tap-tapping of Copper Lanterns, Torie Gorges for so capably stepping in to take on Hand & Face Painting, Laurelle Lo for giving G7 and G8 their own hangout space in the Lounge, Madelaine Johnston and Sila Ataca for managing the indispensable Snack Shop, and Yukiko and Brett English for taking on the entire Gear Shop.

Thank you to our very own Chef, Eron Picus, for volunteering his time to create a delicious seasonal menu for the Bistro. Thank you to Sarah Heirman, Christian (CJ) Leonard, and Shelly Hackman for selling out of all the wonderful sweets at the Patisserie, and to everyone who baked and contributed those delicious treats! Thank you to Stephanie Hanson for her vendor meal delivery services and helping oversee furniture moving.

Thank you to Susan Fuller for coordinating the musical performances, and thanks to Jane Christenson for announcing the musicians. Thank you to all of our wonderful musicians who lent their time and talent to entertain us during the Bazaar, including: Sven Abow, Backyard Band, Capitol Sound Suzuki Strings, Brad Clark, Casey Didden, Laura Knutson, Bill Merkel & the Waldorf “Trio,” and Melissa Wilets

Thank you to all of our Children’s Garden Faculty, for their hard work in bringing the lovely Puppet Show and Tiny Story Time to life. Thank you to Dulce Govea Aguilar for bringing Bilingual Story Time to the Bazaar as a new addition this year. Thank you to the people who played the role of Pocket Wizards to delight our youngest attendees.

A big thank you to Bonnie McClelland, for dreaming up a great plan to maximize the impact our wonderful high school students made. Thank you to all the high school students for attending their stations with their parents and guardians during the event. Thanks to the lower school students who painted faces and guided younger children through the Enchantment Shop.

Thank you to Ram Mosher for teaching us how to crack a geode with a pipe cutter. Thank you to Chiedza Mazonde for preparing the cash boxes and for all the tedious tallying after the Bazaar. Thank you to Lelia True for helping to go through a whole box of forms at the end of the Bazaar.

Finally, a big thank you to the Parent/Family Organization, and each and every parent and guardian who volunteered their time to make the event a success! The Bazaar is a very special event, and our community’s volunteer spirit creates so much magic for everyone!

Holy Nights Journal - Sacred Nights of Winter

During this darkest time of the year, when the outer world appears to sleep, our inner life awakens. Working with the Holy Nights, or “Time Between the Years” as it is sometimes called, is a potent way to connect more deeply with your awakening True Self.

The Holy Nights journal, Sacred Nights of Winter, is now available to order. It's designed to support you in not only cultivating your inner life, but also in creating a personalized map to guide you through the coming year’s opportunities and challenges.

“The journal was one of the most impactful and life-changing journeys I have ever undertaken. I had no idea what to expect, but each day opened my eyes to something I had never known or experienced before.”   ~ Ash-Lee J., Loveland, CO

This year’s theme is Living Aligned with Nature. We need to be paying more attention to our role as beings of Nature to bring greater peace to this troubled world!

You’ll receive an invitation to a private online community (off of social media) with additional video teachings for each of the Sacred Nights of Winter, as well as free domestic shipping, all included with your journal.
