The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Guide to Small Business
COVID-19 Emergency Loans
"Congress has passed several changes to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and created a “Second Draw” PPP for small businesses who have exhausted their initial loan. Other changes impact eligibility for initial PPP loans, the loan forgiveness process, and the tax treatment of PPP loans.
Congress has also made changes to other programs – including Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL Program), the Employee Retention Tax Credit, a Venue Grant program, and SBA loan programs –that will benefit small businesses."

Join the Coalition to Stop the Spread
The Willoughby Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce has joined the Coalition to Stop the Spread and we invite our members to join as well. While there are many different and strong opinions about how to respond to the pandemic, we can all agree that this new surge poses a grave danger to our businesses and families. The organizations and companies in the coalition have agreed to educate and motivate their employees, customers, vendors and friends on how to advocate the steps known to be effective in fighting back against COVID-19.

Coalition members are provided with fact-based social media posts, videos, talking points and a sample email/letter that can be shared to promote healthy behaviors. It is imperative that we all work together to stop the drastic spread of COVID-19 so we encourage you to join the Coalition to Stop the Spread. For more information, and to join with us, go to StopTheSpreadCoalition.com.
The pandemic is impacting small businesses across America. National Write a Business Plan Month is a good reminder to review your business plan and make any necessary adjustments.

FedTalk: 2021 Economic Outlook
Thursday, January 14, 2021
12-1PM EST

The year ahead holds the potential for many changes, including broad distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine and with it, a reinvigorated economy as the pandemic recedes.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is kicking off the 2021 FedTalk series with an economic outlook by Ed Knotek, Senior Vice President and Research Economist at the Cleveland Fed. Knotek will talk about the economic trends and drivers that he will be watching in 2021.

Following the presentation there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
Chamber of Commerce Benefit of the Month
Coverage for Sole Proprietors
As a sole proprietor, you may be looking for a cost-saving benefit solution. The SOCA Benefit Plan is a multiple employer welfare arrangement (MEWA) that offers predictable rates and competitive benefits usually reserved for larger groups. This means eligible businesses join together to share in the overall claims risk. By being part of a larger, self-funded pool, they have financial protection backed by Anthem’s stop loss coverage.

An eligible sole proprietor must:
• Meet underwriting requirements.
• Work more than 30 hours per week (documentation required).
• Submit a cover page for Form 1040 with Schedule C or Form 1040 with Schedules F and SE.

Contact your broker today. Not currently working with a broker? Contact your local chamber of commerce or NOACC for a list of participating brokers in your area.
Your FedEx and UPS Shipments Will Be More Expensive in 2021
FedEx and UPS rates are going up in 2021, and it’s more important than ever that NOACC members know how to mitigate the impact to their business. PartnerShip®, the benefit provider that manages the NOACC Chamber Shipping Program, has analyzed the new rate charts so you can accurately prepare for the year ahead.

Download the free white paper to see a breakdown of where you’ll find the highest increases and get a simplified explanation of the complicated changes you need to be aware of.

Then be sure to enroll in the NOACC Chamber Shipping Program to save up to 45% with FedEx and offset the rising costs.
THANK YOU for helping us to support you and other local businesses in our communities who have recently renewed their membership for 2021!
