Summer Is Underway

Greetings Watershed Stewards,

Our Green Infrastructure Gardening Series launches with a lunchtime online Green Infrastructure 101 Training on Friday July 7th. It will be a layman's version of the training that Elizabeth Hiser offers to industry professionals. After that we'll be out in the parks each Sunday from 9-11 a.m. The 8 part series will target specific bioretention cells around the park district in July. Each site will get an additional visit in August, allowing us to monitor the impact of our previous work. We'll restore functionality to the sites and enjoy light refreshments. Spend your Sunday brunch with us. WVP Volunteers register here.

As we do every year, we'll be holding our summer LinkUp on July 17th. It's a great opportunity for new and prospective members to connect and learn about our program. This time, we also invite longtime volunteers to join us to share their experience and get together at the Watershed Stewardship Center. Come and meet our new team. WVP Volunteers register here.

We look forward to seeing you at an event soon!

With great appreciation,

Sara Corrigan

Watershed Volunteer Program Coordinator

Introducing two new members of our WVP Summer 2023 team:

Aidan Meidenbauer:

Hello! My name is Aidan Meidenbauer and I am the new Watershed Volunteer Program Assistant. I just finished my second year of college at the University of Denver where I am majoring in Ecology and Biodiversity and minoring in Sustainability. This will be my third summer working with the Cleveland Metroparks and I am excited to be working with the Watershed Volunteer Program to make new connections and gain new experiences. My role this summer will be to reach out to volunteers with reminders and updates, help plan events, and keep everyone up to date on all the new and exciting things that the WVP is doing in the parks. I look forward to meeting all of the dedicated volunteers that make this program possible and cannot wait to see all that this summer will hold!

Jikang "Harry" Zhang:

Hi, everyone! I’m Harry. I'm working towards my Masters in Finance at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School. I came to the Watershed Volunteer Program as a Micro-Intern student. I will be helping with data process in the volunteer system. I'll also be helping out with volunteer events.
