Juror's Statement

Little did I know the challenge of selecting artwork among the submitted pieces when I agreed to juror your show! I’m impressed with the depth of the member’s art as well as the variety of mediums.

My criteria in judging the work has several layers but the first, is identifying art that ‘calls’ to me. By that I mean art that has a resonance; upon looking at it closely, I see evidence of a fresh vision, something I haven’t seen before. On the heels of identifying an emotional impact, I then looked more closely technically – to the composition, use of color, perspective, brushwork, rhythm, unity.
