Secretary Warner begins public education effort on new federal reporting requirements for WV businesses

WV Secretary of State Mac Warner is launching a public education campaign to assist West Virginia businesses with navigating a new federal requirement that took effect on January 1, 2024. The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) is a federal (not state) law that requires most businesses to file specific “Beneficial Ownership Information” (BOI) through an online portal operated by the US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). The information will not be publicly available but will be shared with law enforcement when or if requested.

Benedum Foundation Provides $150,000 Grant For Country Roads Angel Network

Country Roads Angel Network (CRAN), West Virginia's first accredited angel investment network, today announced it has been awarded a two-year grant totaling $150,000 from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation that will support CRAN's efforts to assist West Virginia entrepreneurs who can benefit from mentoring and early-stage investments to develop their businesses.

Rural Business Development Grants (RBDG)

RBDG is a competitive grant designed to support targeted technical assistance, training, and other activities leading to the development or expansion of small and emerging private businesses in rural areas that have fewer than 50 employees and less than $1 million in gross revenues. Programmatic activities are separated into enterprise or opportunity type grant activities.

RESOURCE PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

The Regional Contracting Assistance Center, Inc. (RCAC) APEX Accelerator is a non-profit corporation 

funded by the Department of Defense (DoD), the State of West Virginia, and private corporations to provide assistance to West Virginia companies seeking to do business with federal, state, or local government agencies. RCAC has fulfilled this role since 1987 and currently services the entire state.


Throughout the United States, similar centers have been set up; these centers are called APEX Accelerators.


This APEX Accelerator is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense.
